Motherland: Fort Salem is a new alternate history fantasy series coming to Freeform on March 16, it takes place in a world where the Salem witches survived by signing a treaty in which they become the United States military from that point on. The series follows a group of recruits at the titular Fort Salem, and judging from the trailer also involves a conflict with a magical terrorist group.
It was created by Eliot Laurence, and the other Executive Producers include, Will Farrell, Adam McKay, Kevin Messick, Maria Maggenti, Steven Adelson.

I had been mildly intrigued by this from the premise alone, but the above trailer got me a very interested in this. I'm surprised to see Farrell and McKay's names on something this serious and dark.

The deeply annoying thing about the eternal popularity of Salem witch mythology is: there were no witches at Salem. Innocent people were persecuted, tortured and executed for reasons of bigotry, religious oppression and avarice.
