Most Under appreciated episodes

I'm not sure if this has come up before a million times or not, but I thought we could suggest some underappreciated episodes. We all (well almost all) can agree that Best of Both Worlds and The Inner Light are awesome, but what else?

My first suggestion is The Bonding. I think guest stars turn in a great performance, we get some insight in Wesley and Picard's relationship as well as Worf.

Anyone else got any?

Cast my vote for The Next Phase. It's got Romulans, Ro Laren, and a nice scene between Data and Worf. What more do you need?

"11001001". There's some really great dialogue here, and the whole episode just about manages to avoid the goofiness that pervaded season 1. Yet this one kind of always gets lumped in with the rest as typical season 1.

Genesis. A lot of people tend to be down on season seven, & there is some duds, but this isn't one of them. I continue to enjoy it

Timescape. A pretty well played time anomaly episode, with Picard going goofy with the temporal narcosis

The Drumhead. Just damn good, & not celebrated enough for being so

The Most Toys. This episode really draws you in

The Drumhead is damn near my favorite ever. I totally agree with you there Mojochi. Picard's whole speach on the stand is exactly what Star Trek is good at. And after 9-11 it took on so much more meaning. And it shows Worf's flaws too, he totally falls for it.

"The Hunted". One of my top five favourites, with one of the best guest stars, who (much like Q) brings the best out of the cast by engaging so many of them in delightfully smart, insightful, and just plan fun-to-watch conversations. I loved his sarcasm with Troi, his kinship with Data, and his stateliness with Worf. He was the catalyst for some fabulous action sequences and cat-and-mouse chase scenes too.

I am not sure why everyone rags on Dark Page. This episode had me in tears and showed Barrett's acting range could actually express emotions other than "WHEEEEEE"'.

Where Silence Has Lease: One of the few episodes, besides the Borg ones, that made space feel like a strange, dangerous and scary place. Out of all the villians from the show, Nagilum was one of the oddest and creepiest. I've found myself liking it more and more with each viewing.

Some very good suggestions already here I agree with but I'd add Time's Arrow. It's not as epic as the other season finales, but seeing the crew letting their hair down and having a romp is so much fun, and the period setting is really nicely done, as is Picard and Guinan's relationship.

Agreed. Time's Arrow and Genesis were episodes that I remember seeing during their first run. (I was born in 88, so I really only remember watching the last two seasons, despite the fact I was raised on Trek) So I definitely have a soft spot for them.

I'm new to this board so am not sure how "Family" is rated here, but other Trek fans I know don't like this episode. For me the fact that this is the only episode which doesn't feature a bridge scene is a plus as it places the focus solely on Picard, Worf and their relationships with their families (I'm not mentioning Wesley's scenes because that kids gives me hives, and I always fast-forward through his scenes). I enjoy a good battle scene and the science bits but the main focus for me is the relationships between the characters.

Here are a few that I'd rate higher than the majority view:

The Schizoid Man
Tin Man (CONFLICT! on the D! Love it when Tam Ebrin calls Riker "bully boy.")
Devil's Due (just fun on so many levels)
Conundrum
Frame of Mind (crazy Riker=awesome)

Couldn't agree more. I think BoBW is probably my favorite story ever but to follow it up with anything other than a character piece would really hurt the show. And they did a fine job. Its great to see where Picard came from, his family is really good too, and then Worf has some scenes I can't remember.

The BOnding--a really great episode chocked full of an assortment of great character scenes and dynamics. A really touching hour.

Night Terrors--one of Trek's best high concept sci-fi mysteries with an effective atmosphere and loads of great creepy moments.
