Most powerful ship?

I think your poll is missing the most important option, the Simitar in ST Nemesis. Then again a lot of people don't consider Nemesis to be Trek canon because it was such a terrible film.

It's not that the film isn't canon, it's just that the Scimitar is just another one of those Trek film superweapons which is never seen or heard from again because it gives one particular group too much power. Like the Genesis Device, or Chang's BoP that could fire when cloaked. More of a one-off than the other ships on the list.
However, I don't disagree that it would probably kick the ass of anything on that list, if only for it's cloaking system and massive firepower - it's a Mary Sue in Starship form.

I would have thought that the Voth cityship could lay waste to Negh-Var, the Scimitar, and the Dominion superbug ship, without an appreciable loss in power reserves.

On the Federation side of things, the Prometheus is clearly the most powerful ship, but still not a match for the cityship.

And no one should say a Borg Cube because Voyager can deal with one.

Why the assumption that the bigger the ship the more powerful? The 8472 ships didn't seem that big but a few linked together could destroy a planet!

Exactly.
In Trek, size hardly matters ... but the Scimitars size and the Dominions super-ship could be linked to the 'fear factor'.
Remember the Romulans made their own Warbirds twice the size of a Galaxy class starship and were roughly on par with one another.
They made them that big mostly because of the potential fear factor.

The Scimitar could be using a similar analogy only featuring maximized tech. :D

But we saw onscreen evidence that even though the Enterprise had depleted all phasers and torpedoes the Scimitar was still in pretty good shape. The Scimitar may be less powerful than a fleet of the same tonnage as her but it is more than capable of destroying the E-E singlehandedly.

The Reman Scimitar was a super uber vessel which had it been in the poll would have secured 100% of the votes, the Scimitar was one of the stupidest ships in Trek for obvious reasons, even the Dominion Dreadnought pales in comparison to the Scimitars 52 disrupter banks, 24 Photon torpedo launchers and Primary/secondary shielding.

The poll was to see which 'flagship' class vessel was the best one, I used all the most recent ships developed by each of the Major races, only the Cardassians lack a new class of vessel which is why I used the Keldon class since its a more powerful version of a Galor Class.

I see that most people picked the Dominion Dreadnought but personally I disagree, its a powerful ship of course but I think if it went up against a Negh'Var it wouldn't last, the Negh'Var would likely take serious damage but from what we saw of its weapons in 'Way of the Warrior' its pretty damn powerful and just look at how long the Valiant held out against the supposed power of the Dominion dreadnought.

When you say "Dominion Dreadnought," to which ship are you referring? When I think Dreadnought, I think of those monstrously huge vessels orbiting Cardassia at the end of the war--not the battleship fought by the Valiant.

I thought the ship fought by the Valiant and those orbiting Cardassia were the same. There's also a mid-sized Dominion warship that Dukat and Weyoun used prior to the introduction of the battleship.

The Dominion Dreadnought was the ship that the Valiant fought and it was the first of its kind as it was a prototype. All the other ships were just regular battlecruisers, in the final episodes where we see the big fleet battles and where the Alliance fleet reaches Cardassia Prime we see that the Dominion have built even more dreadnoughts.

This was a regular Dominion Battlecruiser

This was a Dominion Dreadnought.

Per pound the champ has to be the defiant but one does have to consider voyager come endgame, hate endgame or really hate it Voyager by the end of treks run made every battleship in the alpha quadrant a thing of the past, I doubt even a voth city ship could have f*cked with endgame voyager, but that's the only ship I see destroying voyager with it's transporter.

As much as I'd like to say the Sovereign, it seemed pretty clear that the Dominion were a few years more advanced than the Federation.
The Sovereign is still the best looking of those mentioned.

I'm going with the Sovereign class starship. :bolian:
