The Dominion if someone needs the other 3 powers on the list to team up to beat them then they are stronger than the other powers are individually.

...It seemed to be doing just fine even before getting either of the two allies, though.

And let's not forget that by "it", we mean a small and isolated beachhead force! It's like trying to establish how badass the Canadians were in WWII, if the facts of the matter are that their isolated beachhead force at Dieppe almost brought Hitler's entire army to its knees... Obviously, a force like that would be the strongest in the world in the 1940s, and Canada would be stronger than the rest of the world put together, even if none of the mainland Canadian forces ever entered combat (due to the Atlantic being frozen solid by angered Norse gods or something).

Dominion because the Federation,Klingons, Romuluans could barely force them out of the Alpha quadrant.

The Hirogen should be on that list. They were more formidable than they got a chance to be.

Were the Hirogen a "military power", though? They were a bunch of individualist hunters; them launching a military campaign of any sort sounds unlikely.

OTOH, I'm not sure if even the much-despised Kazon should be dismissed here. They had little skill, but they had big ships, and lots of them. What they lacked in essential technologies (transporters; supply systems such as replicators; range and accuracy of weapons; speed of ships) they could have compensated for with their numbers. And if the Kazon had so many ships spanning so much space, how many did the original Trabe have?

Advanced weapons technology isn't everything, as even the highly advanced Son'a feared Starfleet and shied away from an open confrontation... A balance of technology and numbers combined with will to fight is required.

The Dominion hands down.

The Dominion didn't even have the bulk of their forces in the AQ.

It's hard to say if any of the DQ militaries were stronger. Certainly the dinosaur people were stronger. But for anyone else besides the Borg and 8472 you never get a good measure of their real power. The aliens from Counterpoint, the empire in Year Of Hell, those aliens who wouldn't let Voyager take a direct path. Voyager never hung around anyone but the Kazon long enough to get a sense for their size.

Interesting statistics.. I'd be curious as to the source of those. Nothing from the show I'm sure, given they only gave vague fleet numbers at best.

Though it's odd that your list has almost no one but Starfleet with any support vessels. If anything the opposite would be true because smaller craft are easier to build than capital ships.

I equate most of StarFleet and Klingons losses in the war was the use of outdated ships. D7 and old Bird of Prey Klingon vessels, and Miranda and Excelsior class ships making up the bulk of fleets in DS9 battles. Like WTF did the Federation want to lose? The most powerful threat to the Alpha and Beta quadrants and you put 90 year old vessels on the front lines. THIS IS YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD!?

It might be ugly but the Prometheus class could do some damage. We know Intrepid classes are INDESTRUCTIBLE, look at Voyager it survives scores of encounters it shouldn't.

Ask the age old question is Starfleet a military? With decisions like this obviously not.

But remember that the Dominion composed of the Cardassians, the Jem'hadar, and the Breen.
The Dominion was composed of the Founders, JemHadar and the Vorta. The Cardassians and the Breen were allies.

The Federation was allied (in a fashion) with the Prophets. Plus the Klingons and the Romulans.

Given the additional "alliance" with section 31, the Federation is the most powerful.

:)

Well at demonstrated in Paradise Lost, the Excelsiors were refitted with modern equipment to make them comparable to modern ships in battle. No reason the Mirandas weren't either. Though I just always thought that the Federation using old Mirandas and what not was just them putting every hull they could into space because they needed them. It's common practice for navies these days to keep a reserve fleet of older classes in storage in case they need to rapidly expand their navy if a war breaks out.

^ Ah see I forgot about that episode. Where and Excelsior class fought a Defiant class. The two being roughly equal outside the Defiant had ablative armor and Defiant wasn't out to kill.

It supposedly has canon information.

The only "canon" is from the shows and movies. Everything else is fanfic.

Also, that's quite possibly the ugliest website I've ever seen.

If by nothing else, the Dominion has the numbers to beat anyone else. Just their small advance fleet, bolstered by the Cardassians, was enough to make big advances at the beginning of the war. Also, unlike Starfleet, the Dominion's big ships are pure warship.

Of course, a big part of the Dominion's wins at various points were due to weapons that the alpha-alliance couldn't counter: first it was just their regular weapons - the smallest Trek ship weapons can tear apart an effectively unshielded, unarmored starship, even a big one like a Galaxy-class.; later it was the Breen power drain weapon. After those challenges were overcome, the Allies were back on the offensive (especially with Romulan support).
