Most Powerful Beings in Trek

What about the producers/Writers of the Voyager show? They made the Q lazy and sent in the Voyager team to the Q continuum with phasers and were able to defeat them I believe. I'm going on bad memory, so someone will have to fix that :D The episode was bad. They did to the Q what they initially did to the Borg.

The Q and the Grey. The Female Q helped Voyager enter the Continuum and supplied the crew with Q weapons. However to the crew of Voyager it all looked like the American Civil War complete with the Q weapons looking like Civil War era guns. I actually liked the episode, mostly for being a Civil War buff and Q fan an Suzie Plakson fan.

Some of the abilities and limits of these beings are interesting.

While the Q can travel through time, the Prophets exist in all time periods simultaneously. This suggests they see it all instantaneously, like they're omnipresent as far as time goes.

If there was a conflict between two entities, (theoretically) it would be hard to even approach the Prophets. How can you destroy beings that have already seen you coming?

The Q didn't or couldn't foresee their own civil war, unlike the Prophets.

The Dowd can create all types of things, and even destroyed an entire civilation with a thought, but he still could not bring back his wife who was killed. He could only create a simulation of her.

Dowd was powerful, but stuck within this universe. The Prophets had no concept of loss. The dialog suggested they could easily access the past to retrieve whatever they want, which would mean they could easily have retrieved Dowd's wife if they wanted.

So this would move the Dowd a notch or two under the Prophets- however the Prophets show limited ability with physical things, which puts them below Q .

However, given their potential to manipulate the universe from their location, it might not matter much.

To me the Prophets may have lived in the past, present and future simultaneously, I think it was only the most probable future they knew. They seemed to be surprised by Sisko's willingness to sacrifice himself during Sacrifice of Angels. Then, they seemed to realize he would follow a different path, or future and then knew that future until Sisko was to get married

The Prophets seem to be pretty powerful in the time travel department.

They saw and predicted the meteorite opening up the wormhole centuries before it happened, and they foresaw the Dominion entering the Bajoran system and heading for Cardassia.

They pretty much predicted their own battle with the Pah Wraiths, though they couldn't see who would win, strangely enough.

That may be why they arranged Sisko's birth; they foresaw when the Pah Wraith would be freed and get into the wormhole.

That brings up the question again; how do you destroy beings that can you see you coming, and alter the past to prevent you from succeeding?

In contrast, the Q were completely blindsided by their civil war. They didn't foresee anything about the Quinn suicide, the disruption, the infighting.

It's possible the Wormhole Aliens are a little more powerful in the time and alternate dimensions realm than the Q.

Not likely, but still an interesting theory.

It has to be the Q. Still, Q did mention that humanity might well surpass them one day. So, as someone else mentioned, it has to be the writers. ;)

Seem to be, yes.

...and they foresaw the Dominion entering the Bajoran system and heading for Cardassia.

Are you talking about Sisko, convincing the Bajoran Government to not join the Federation? But, if they saw that, why did they need convincing by Sisko to stop the Dominion Invasion fleet in Sacrifice of Angels? Why did they ever let the Dominion through at all?

They pretty much predicted their own battle with the Pah Wraiths, though they couldn't see who would win, strangely enough.

When you have an enemy as powerful as you are, and who is really pissed at you. Sooner or later you will battle. No need to see the future, it's going to happen.

That may be why they arranged Sisko's birth; they foresaw when the Pah Wraith would be freed and get into the wormhole.

A back up plan, in case the Pah Wraiths did take over the Wormhole? Again that would mean they couldn't really foresee the actual future, just the most likely outcome; and prepared for it.

In contrast, the Q were completely blindsided by their civil war. They didn't foresee anything about the Quinn suicide, the disruption, the infighting.

Or the Q cannot predict their own actions or actions of other Q. A being as powerful as they are could hide his actions. And again when you have an enemy as powerful as you are, sooner or later you will fight. The fight could be an actual war where members of your own species die or move and counter move until the other side is no longer a threat.

It's possible the Wormhole Aliens are a little more powerful in the time and alternate dimensions realm than the Q.

Yes, but I still give it to the Q.
