I don't know why you roll your eyes. Data has got his pips, he's the 3rd officer of the flagship, he's a leader of men, Pulaski comes around and calls the guy a toaster. I like Pulaski as a character but her behaviour towards Data is unprofessional. You might expect that if the android filled a butler-crewman function on ship -- not dissimilar to how Voyager's EMH was introduced - but Data is a senior officer that earned is spurs and is therefore entitled to respect. The Pulaski Data clash was crude and poorly thought through - certain their initial interactions are anyway.Data
I like Data and all, but when people criticize Pulaski for insulting Data I roll my eyes. At the time, Data was a toaster and yeah I get they wanted to add conflict, but I don't blame Pulaski at all for treating Data the way she did early on.

The problem with Geordi is that he became too serious and lost the fun side he had in the first season. He barely had a personality after he became chief engineer.
