Most impressive post-Star Trek career

Considering that the original series cast considered themselves typecast in their roles for years after Trek, who (across all Trek series) has had the best career post-Star Trek?

There's a few that come to mind. Patrick Stewart had a long-running movie role as Professor X in the X-Men movies as well as his return to stage acting (and was knighted). William Shatner had several starring TV roles in TJ Hooker, TekWar, Boston Legal and **** My Dad Says. Jonathan Frakes had a run of directing and producing movies and TV shows.

Kate Mulgrew enjoyed a big second wind on Orange Is The New , while Jeri Ryan and Bob Picardo also enjoyed solid TV work in the many years since VOY ended.

I think as long as an actor is happy with their life, their post Trek career will be successful.

Walter Koenig played one of the best villains ever in B5 as Bestor.

Nimoy had a stage career after Mission: Impossible and was a successful photographer.

These days, even having talent isn't enough. One has to have a lot more to sustain in the field as most photographers rake in $30,000/yr.

Colm Meaney has had at least 40 film credits since leaving Trek, and has been on a number of series, most notably Hell on Wheels (51 episodes).

Define impressive... Most prolific? most versatile? most famed? Shatner really crossed over into comedy in a big way. His stint on 3rd Rock from The Sun was wonderful, but he never really made a big splash in major motion pictures after Kirk

My vote has to go to Patrick Stewart. That move from Star Trek to X-Men has kept him relevant, as an A-Lister, right up to Logan (In which I thoroughly enjoyed him) He also fronts a current tv show

He's another example of why I don't by the typecast thing anymore. Him, Mulgrew, Spiner, Michelle Forbes, Quite a lot of them worked plenty since Star Trek. Even Denise Crosby still shows up now & then. Hell, I see Wil Wheaton more now than I did when he was a kid in his heyday. I even watched Nicole de Boer for 5 seasons on The Dead Zone. It's not like any of them stalled a huge A-list career & settled for where they are. Star Trek strengthened their marketability ihmo

To me, Bruce Hyde had the most impressive post-Trek career. He got a PhD and became a professor, and published a number of academic writings.
