There's quite a bit of "Loud as a Whisper" I really like. There's some good stuff in there and it's fairly light on cheese or "cringeworthiness" as far as I'm concerned.

The only thing for me that is odd is the level of "shock" Worf displays at the sign-language Data researches. Saying how impressive it is and effective it could be in combat.

Errr.... You mean he doesn't use sign-language/signals in stealth operations?

^ Not 24th century Klingons! THEY ONLY SHOUT OR YELL WHEN SPEAKING.

Not always. Just a lot of the time. Worf, K'Mpec, Gowron, Lursa, B'Etor, Kurn, and Martok all spoke with normal "inside voices" as much as (if not more often) than they did yell or shout.

There's a lot of really awkward dialog especially toward the beginning of the show's run. "Wesley. Drugs...make you feel good." But other than the outrageously dumb lines there's a lot of dialog that's just awkwardly worded and really stilted. I watched Samaritan Snare recently and it's a pretty big example of this. None of the words spoken in that episode sound like they would ever be formed in the brain of a real person.

The fact the 29% of the people chose other makes me feel I didn't pick very good choices. I will say this..."Sub Rosa" is by far the most douche chill episode followed by Genesis...but I was kinda making it about a specific moment. I should have included the Yar Crusher drugs moment though.

Whoopi Goldberg's moments all suck because she was given WAY WAY too much creative leniency...she practically wrote herself into every episode from what I hear. Although Barclay was one of my favorite characters....the fact that he brought her into the show makes me dislike him a bit as a person, not as the character he played.

Honorable mention: Hologram Leah Brahams making a weird analogy between her breasts and the warp engines and Geordi practically rubbing one out while she's talking about how when you touch one you're touching the other.

Winner: Data and Yar screwing.

It would have cringe worthy in any episode. But, IT HAPPENED IN THE SECOND EPISODE OF THE SERIES!!!!!!

At this point we knew nothing about their characters and all of the sudden the Enterprise is a space traveling Playboy mansion.

If it had been an episode in the 3rd season or so at least by then we would have known how wack a doodle their behaviors were. We also would have known the extent to which Picard had it in for hot pants Crusher, making their exchange more understandable.

But at this point we knew nothing. Was Yar some kind of Nympho who was into kinky stuff like android sex? Was Data's ability as a sex machine going to be a regular part of his character? Did Picard and Crusher have an affair while she was married or something?

It was like going on a first date and before you've even finished dinner you know all these personal details about him or her and you don't even know their last name yet.

Or Picard being intimate with his former young friend in Tapestry.
That wasn't so awkward; it's normal for college friends to hook up then breakup. (its explained in the beginning that young Picard only looks like patrick stewart to the audience).

what was really awkward was Picard hooking up with his girlfriend and waking up next to Q!

Data's transporter-room eulogy was a little awkward. hilarious too!

The considerable age difference between the actual actors in front of us in Tapestry in those scenes did make it awkward for me.

But for true grimace-making cringeworthiness in TNG, for me nothing ever topped Data asking EVERYONE on board for advice about his new relationship with Jenna D'Sora in "In Theory." Him advertising their romance to everyone, plus additionally advertising his own more-or-less happlessness, made me wince again again, mainly for Jenna. And then I was doubly surprised that the writers didn't think all this was ridiculous violation enough for her to ever call him on it!

Well, yes, but thats part of his character development. He isn't human, he doesn't know better. More sloppy writing than true cringe-worthy awkwardness, IMO.

Also: Data eating Counselor "Cake" Troi.

Picard grooming Wesley in the shuttlecraft

Beverly's inane coddling of Wesley the first season and her "my poor baby boy, nobody will treat him like a uniformed and respected member of the crew!" attitude, culminating in CODE OF HONOR.

Besides all the other issues with that ep, Wesley timidly waiting in the open turbolift door so he technically hasn't "Stepped one foot on the bridge" whilst Mommy goes and whines (again!) to Picard about how poorly her precious is being treated.

I believe the first time I ever face-palmed over a scene in a TV show.

Part of the problem was the dissonance between what she expected in a relationship with Data and the reality. He LOOKS like an adult man, but many of his behaviors here could best be described as adolescent (some are just inhuman). I don't think her embarrassment would be any less just because he's an android, and I do remember being keenly embarrassed when I watched this ep.

Peeps are different I guess. The cake thing struck me as horrific, but not cringeworthy.

I just watched "Loud as a Whisper," so my answer is currently "Loud as a Whisper."

"I have no magic!" That's how you bring the warring factions together...be insultingly condescending to both of them!

"Wesley. Drugs...make you feel good."

At least when Wesley asked her, her answer wasn't, "But my job is security...! Okay, explaining drugs is more important."
