Most Anoying Star Trek Character ever

Most characters can be somewhat annoying at times. For example I can get annoyed at Janeway almost always proven right, and being so smug about it. Or at Beverley, that is just syrupy blandness and seems to have a lack of a real defined personality, except to be 'mother of Wes' and 'Picard love interest'.

But, structurally annoying characters? I wouldn't know. Perhaps Lwaxana, but she was purposely written that way. Can't really see Neelix as that annoying either, since his entire behavior becomes perfectly understandable when you consider his sad backstory.

Jake Sisko had some scenes where he is shown as lazy, immature, annoying and unreliable. Or Naomi Wildman's annoying scenes - including her soap opera rapid aging. But it isn't the child actor's fault and I don't dislike the characters in general. The same goes for Wesley Crusher. Wesley had annoying scenes, but I liked his interactions with Picard who often was like a father for him. Didn't like Wesley turned into a superbeing, though.

Probably Lwaxana. I would have been friends with Wesley when I was a kid and most of the Voyager crew are alive because of Neelix.

Question, which do you think was worse overall: TNG season 7 or VGR season 7?

I find that question difficult because I really like TNG season 7 and VGR season 7. I think VGR season 7 is ... odd. It feels almost like quite a few episodes were rejected scripts from earlier in the show. Repression might have been a first draft for Worse Case Scenario and would fit better in season 2, following up on the Hirogen in Flesh and Blood would fit better in season 5, Human Error might have been an early version of Someone To Watch Over Me and it would definitely fit better around that point than in season 7.

My only issues with Moogie was that she somehow (singlehandedly and overnight) managed to do what it took thousands of suffragettes several decades to do in our society: gain equal rights for women. But that's annoyance at bad writing (a relative rarity on DS9).

It's actually tough for me to call a character annoying, because most of the annoying things about certain characters are more about what is done to them rather than how they are portrayed.

Probably the best way to illustrate my point is Michael Burnham. For the first 3 seasons, it seems even when she did the wrong thing, she was somehow right for doing it. And it was constant. We saw some of our captains do some questionable things in the past: Kirk giving the Hill People rifles to have a balance of power, or Picard allowing the Boraalans to die, or Sisko poisoning the Maquis world, or Janeway obsessing over Ransom, or Archer stealing the warp coil. But it wasn't a constant thing for each of them. Those scenarios, while sometimes controversial, were exceptions in their time of command. With Burnham, it seemed to be the rule, not the exception.

In season 4, pretty much every member of the crew, at various points, were acting like they needed to pat her on the back or were saying stuff like "I'm with you, fully". I'm not saying that a captain shouldn't get positive reinforcement now and then, but she got more this season than ALL the previous captains of TOS, TNG, DS9, VGR, and ENT. COMBINED! I feel that when you have to go to that extreme of having so many of the crew say those words, it undermines her in a way that makes it look like she didn't really earn the center seat. You want me to believe she earned the respect and loyalty of the crew? Do it with actions, not corny or overly saccharine dialogue. Janeway may have come across as a cult leader, but at least the crew showed us they were behind her with actions.

I will say Burnham herself has been written better this season, but it's the surrounding things I stated above that undermines her captaincy.

BORING! THAT is what I feel about Gray's character! I was looking for the right word to describe what I felt, and you nailed it.

Regarding T'Pol/Trip, I agree. It's one of the few things that I didn't like about ENYERPRISE, mostly season 3 and 4 interactions. The whole 'will they, won't they' is a tired cliche, and makes T'Pol look especially bad because she's much older than him.

This tendency you speak of is a hallmark of poor writing. Telling you something through dialogue rather than showing it to you through story and actions. Of course, it is more common in serialized shows with 10-13 episodes because so much is sacrificed to drive the plot forward.

That episode after Nog lost his leg is one of my most hated episodes through all of Star Trek.
I actually thought that one was okay considering the fact that Fontaine appears extensively on the episode.

I understand the need to ease things out, even more on a show like DS9, which was often grim (although the grimness of the show it's highly exaggerated in my opinion, but that's a whole another topic). However, Vic Fontaine clashes so much with the tone to the point of being camp and looking completely out of place, even more so with his annoying songs and he was introduced out of nowhere. And it's not like DS9 didn't have humor or lighter moments. He wasn't needed!

Let's pick another incredibly annoying character like Lwaxanna. She was introduced on the beginning of the show, so we always know what to expect when she shows up, we got used to her. Imagine if she was introduced on the last season of TNG and took the center piece of half the episodes :brickwall:.

That's kinda how I feel about him. It ruined many moments that could be reserved to other characters like Worf, Kira or Odo. It's almost as if Quark's place didn't existed anymore, they're always on that annoying Vegas bar.

^This. If you want light-heartedness and bar scenes in DS9, then use the existing bar; Quark's. Quark is an infinitely more entertaining and interesting character than Vic. Similarly, If you want music, just put some alien makeup on a musician and let them perform in Quark's.

The EMH. Nothing but ego and self-importance. When he was limited to sickbay he was sympathetic in his limitations, but after he got the emitter he became utterly unbearable as he was brilliant at everything and grew more and more grating, leading to all the crap such as the ECH and holographic rights.

It was annoying that he kept putting the crew in danger and there were no consequences for him.

I despise Q and refuse to watch his TNG episodes.
He is annoying at times. I prefer more serious Q episodes. So maybe he should've been in less episodes if it meant the quality was better overall. For instance, his last two appearances on Voyager stunk. Well, not John de Lancie, but the stories. They "defanged" him, too.

* IMHO, a computer telling a person how to emote is a tad ludicrous incredulously cringeworthy, responding to a query of prerecorded datasets and is more likely going to be inaccurate compared to an actual biological gooey being

Vic may have been a hologram, but he's still a sentient being nonetheless. Like the EMH.

I think VGR season 7 is ... odd. It feels almost like quite a few episodes were rejected scripts from earlier in the show. The Void also felt like an earlier episode.
