More Dollhouse hysteria.

Dollhouse is fun, but so far not amazing. If it were any other writer but Joss, I doubt I'd be willing to spend as much time on it as I am. But I've been told that the writers think they finally found their voice after struggling with the first half-dozen or so, and since it's Joss, I'll give it a dozen episodes to find itself.

Whedon went against his own best judgement by agreeing to do Dollhouse with Fox (mostly as a favor to Eliza). He should have went Showtime or Sci-Fi.

agreed. this should have gone to a network with more patience. though had he, he wouldn't have been able to get eliza, who is contracted to fox. that's the reason they had to go with fox, sadly. :(

i still like the show, but i do agree that it won't get past the first season from what it looks.

I've been watching Dollhouse on hulu since the beginning through the first 20 minutes of episode 3. If it wasn't Joss Whedon, I would not even care (I'm not an obsessed groupie either). I personally am not that impressed. It is a rip-off of La Femme Nikita. Even the lady in charge of Dollhouse reminds me of Madeline on La Femme. Episode 2 was better with explaining what is Dollhouse better than the first one, although. I am going to continue watching as a show of support for new sci-fi. I believe that Fox is trying to prove that Sci-Fi is a failure and that Reality Shows are what people want to see. I hope there is more substance in future episodes. Cobra

P.S.. It's good to see Amy Acker again, even though she is mutilated. I just read that she may be leaving the show for a pilot on ABC. If that happens, i don't think i can stomach 45 minutes of fluff.

What do you think is the cause of Dollhouse's poor ratings?

Dollhouse isn't that good. 40.00% (very true :techman:)
It's on Fridays. 25.71%
Viewers just don't get it. 15.71%
FOX messed with it. 10.00%
I watch RDM's Soapstar Islamica 8.57%
No TV, out on hot date! 0.00% ( wow zero % tv people have no life :()

I watch RDM's Soapstar Islamica 8.57%

I think it's a combo of network interference and bad timeslot that's doomed this show personally.

I just have to say that random blatent flame or whatever wasn't called for. If you don't like the show (any show) stop watching it. That doesn't mean you should watch it, hate it and rant about it everywhere! :techman:

You know, I had no clue what (s)he meant with "Soapstar Islamica" until I saw the original poll on the Shiny website. It sounded like a reality show following muslim soap stars or something (it's been a while since I last saw BSG, but I don't see the comparison).

After having watched 4 episodes, I am through with Dollhouse. IMO, it is a very pointless show (or if it had one, it should have come sooner). This show is simply network fluff designed to bring in teens-20 somethings to watch to see young flesh all about. There is the obcession of the FBI agent that is unclear and the uber-boogeyman Alpha which doesn't add up. Eliza Dushku is simply replaying Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer in all of her skits. Watching an entire show of her acting is a waste of perfectly good time.

Lastly, this show is completely dry of humor. I was watching the Sopranos today (never watched it before) and saw the scene where Tony the mob guy was talking to his shrink about seeing a guy who owed him money. He told her that he took the guy for a "coffee". What he didn't tell her was his memory flashback where he (while playing an oldies tune) mowed him down in a Lexus, broke his leg, and beat the crap out of him. That, although immoral, was quite humorful. Dollhouse, on the otherhand, has just been an exhibition of prostitution, club hopping, dry acting, and poor storytelling. After seeing Buffy, Angel, and Firefly; I had expected more. All I could say to Joss Whedon is good luck on your next project. Next time you will have to earn my watching your product along with the many other disenfranchised viewers out there. Cobra

My libido died years ago. It was already callused to Eliza's charms when it expired. Joss does not like the status quo, this show will look completely like a horse of another colour if it's allowed to continue to the end of the fist season after a series of gut wrenching mindfucks.

I like it when my mind is fucked.

Well this is good. I have 20 days till the law changes down here and I cannot download TV anymore. If I can't have Dollhouse, then I'm glad that no one can.

Mewharhaherhar!

I like the show.
I like Eliza Dushku, I'm not interested in the uber sexiness of the show and I did not like La Femme Nikita. I just like the show.

So Whedon went to Fox because they had the shitty actress he wanted? Ugh. Eliza Dushku is just not any good. She can play exactly one character, a slutty girl that likes dancing in the clubs. So what's the point of putting her in a show where she's supposed to play a wide variety of personalities?

The 'most dangerous prey of all' episode was ridiculous. The acting on this show is so bad that even if they had good scripts it would still suck.

I'm three episodes in and I'm debating whether it's worth throwing on the fourth, and I'm a pretty big fan of all of Whedon's other TV efforts.

More accurately, Eliza went to Joss because she had to be in a Fox show and didn't want it to be shitty.
Hrm, if she didn't want it to be shitty she could've started by demoting herself to a recurring role. Maybe.... every other episode or so.
