More "big money" getting into the space industry

Oh yes, I like very much everything about this company. I was just pointing out to Rama that Joe Q. Public won't care until they actually do something revolutionary.

So has anyone else bumped into the conspiracy theory? As it goes, apparently the government has discovered a killer asteroid that will impact the earth in several years (or decades or whatever) and they are using this company as a cover to devise a way to divert it. The cover, of course, is needed to prevent mass panic. I am surprised how quickly this kind of crap spread, even on the same day of the announcement.

There are several shuttles now available for repurposing, and lots of plutonium from decommissioned warheads that could be used to power an Orion-style nuclear pulse drive. Has anyone seen Bruce Willis recently?

With space travel being very expensive, something like this is probably the only way we'll ever get anything done.
