MOP TOP MYSTERY

when Kes was in Voyager orginally she had a very boring moptop haircut and this made her appear waif like and drab.

However when showed up again later in the series she was a dynamic ravishing sexy blonde bombshell which set my pulse racing.

Anyone agree she was just awesome with the super blonde hair?

Any reason for the hideous mop top?

Why did the producers go with such a horrid haircut when they could have a sea of golden blonde golden locksflowing in the corriders of Voayger bewitching every man,vulcan and maybe Torres too witrh the viewers also turned on to her goldenness.

Can someone post comparison pictures as I dont have a high post count.

They wanted to make Kes look like a young woman at the beginning. I think that Jennifer Lien's hair was normally that short, as well.

The reason she got the blonde wig was because she ended up getting a bad allergic reaction to the spirit gum used in her prosthetic ears.

Her early haircut was fine, when it actually looked like hair.

Well, I like her both ways. What's so wrong with her early haircut?

You have a good pic of her early haircut, get a pic of her when we first see her in caretaker and tell me that wig did not at one time have a soul. Because that thing looked like they simply stuck road kill on her head, yuck!

I preferred the first haircut. Gave her a sort-of elfin look.

The only thing that was weird about the long hair is that it came out of nowhere!

She must have had to cut her hair every few hours for how fast it grew!

I figure everything Kes has grows so quickly. After all, look at her in the first season - just over a year old and she looks like a human of twenty.

Blonde wig?

No way was that a wig.It just looked too real and natural.I also see the blonde hair coming out of her scalp.I can tell when someone is wering a wig and the flow of hair was just to natural and life like to be a wig.

Do you have any proof it was a wig,I mean an authoritative,unimpeachable source that cannot be doubted.I hope you dont find this souce as if you do I will banish Jennifer Lian forever from my head,heart and pc.

Just look at the screencaps for Before and After - the first time we saw Jennifer Lien with that great hair:

She has to be wearing a wig. You don't grow your hair over the course of shooting an episode. (And she kept the long hair for the rest of the season.)

However, her hair looks different (and natural) in Season 4 (see here). She probably grew it out during the offseason, and in more recent pictures I've seen of her, she does have the long hair.

The *short* hair was a wig--or rather more than one.

The long hair is Jennifer's own.

With a possable weave. I don't recall Lien's hair being that full in real life but not totally sure.

Definitely wearing a wig. IIRC Lien developed an allergy to the glue they used to attach her Ocampa ears to her real ears so they put a wig on her so they wouldn't have to attach her ears.

So they used her *own* hair to cover them and ditched the wigs.

The pic of her short hair you have looks good, but it definitely looked bad the way she styled it in the first episode. You can definitely tell that she has a lot of hair under her wig. Either that or she has a really big head.

Yeah that's what I was talking about. That hair is huge, it's almost rivaling Janeway's bun

Love that picture, thanks. (Can you believe the ties?) I had no idea Jennifer had quite so much hair; but I always thought her first-season wig looked like she was bundling a lot of hair under it.

The unnatural-looking short wig was the hideous one she wore in the premiere episode, "Caretaker".

Later in the season, they went with a short natural-hair wig, which covered her own long, flowing blonde hair she had when part of the cast of "Phenom".

The only problem was that they changed it in that time-shifting episode, which made it confusing whether Kes had returned to the "right" time.

Personally I preferred the earlier one because it showed off her ears. She was too human looking otherwise.
