Moore is less

If they offered him a new Star Trek series on a silver platter, he'd think about it. Please. Rather, please don't. We don't need another mushy soap opera. TOS was plot driven science fiction action adventure. He thinks he's far better than he is. It's no wonder they threw him off of Voyager. He has no ideas. I hate people stories. Pegasis sucked. The bonding was latter retold better. The defector was a hackneyed idea. He made the Klingons and all the alien races seem ridiculous.

“I think ,at the moment, the franchise is in good hands. J.J. Abrams has a really good take on it, I thought the last movie was very good. I’m confident that he’s going to chart a direction for Star Trek for the foreseeable future.”

Ballz.
Compared to that, I'd weep with joy for a Moore Trek show.
Actually, I think either way, I'll wind up weeping.
gah.
:(

So would I. "Trek fan would consider making own Trek show" isn't a ground-breaking idea.

With great characters.

He thinks he's far better than he is.
Don't we all? I know I do.

It's no wonder they threw him off of Voyager.
He quit, but your attempt at trolling is noted.

He has no ideas.
Sure he does. They might not be very good, but he still has them.

I hate people stories.
Might I direct you to the science fiction tales of Albert Macklin? He likes robots.

Pegasis sucked.
Are you talking about the TNG episode or the BSG episode? Because I loved both. :)

The bonding was latter retold better.
Eh, The Bonding's not great. I don't think anyone has ever claimed that The Bonding is a TNG classic.

The defector was a hackneyed idea.
Perhaps so, but it was so well written that it became a classic. And that wasn't even a pure RDM episode, he once said in an interview that that was an example of an episode which had to be rewritten very quickly so Michael Piller assigned different writers different parts of of the episode and they threw it all together. Moore got the credit because he wrote the first draft.

He made the Klingons and all the alien races seem ridiculous.
Klingons? Understandable. What other races did he ruin?

Pegasus sucked =True

The Bonding was latter retold better. = When?

The Defector was a hackneyed idea.= False

He made the Klingons and all the alien races seem ridiculous = False.

Umm... Klingons and other races on Star Trek are ridiculous.

Also, BSG was one of the finest television dramas ever.

If Moore was offered another series, would the deleted scenes make up more than half of the important plot of said series? ;)

'The Bonding' became 'Hollow Pursuits' - a much better episode. The Defector was his best idea. The Klingon in the Chase was ridiculous. Alien races were just not depicted very well in the latter part of TNG.

The Bonding was originally about the kid recreating his mother in the holosuite. The other story just sucks.

I just don't understand all this vitriol about Roger Moore.

:)
One of my pet peeves is people who go off on a rant and expect people to know what they are talking about while providing little or no clues.
I'm guessing there's some recent interview with Ron Moore where the subject of Star Trek comes up, but the OP offers us no clues how to find it, and only oblique clues to it's existence at all.
You don't need to treat us like idiots (say, explaining that Star Trek was a tv show), but it would be nice if you gave us some clue what you were talking about before you start foaming at the mouth.

All I can say is I think Moore was passable as James Bond, but I do prefer Sean Connery.

;)

If you MUST make a troll thread, could you be a little less obvious? Takes the fun out of it.

Until halfway through, when it would turn out he had no idea about how to resolve the show's plots and turn to literal deus ex machina (which was already done on DS9) and most of the stuff done to keep us viewing were just red herrings to draw in viewers.

The Defector was a hackneyed idea.= False
This, the defector wasn't the most original story ever told on Trek, but it as nicely done. The Romulan wasn't just another piece of cardboard slid under the door like most Romulans on Trek, you got to feel for the short little bastard.
He made the Klingons and all the alien races seem ridiculous = False.
At least somethimg interesting was done with they, I think in whole the Kilingons were over time made "too Human" but you have to admit they were fleshed out (I love how Kor died, was Moore part of that?).

Also, BSG was one of the finest television dramas ever.
I think Moore could make a pretty damn compelling Trek series. He's got the resume for it
Moore could make a compeling show, but the question is would a Moore controlled show be Star Trek? Despite the title and the names of the characters, the movie that Abrams made last year wasn't Star Trek (yes I know we're stuck with it) It was a well made sci-fi film, but that's all. If Moore was calling the shots, what would he actual make?

The Bonding was nerffed by Gene Roddenberry, not Moore. Gene claimed that in the future children didn't mourn the deaths of their parents, so the episode had to be adapted and Moore was forced to go along with it. I'm not saying Moore's first script was good, I never read it, but if you're going to blame anyone for what you see as a fault with The Bonding then blame Roddenberry.

The Defector was his best idea.
The defector was a hackneyed idea.
Please try to have some level of internal consistency in your trolling.

Besides, everyone knows that Ron Moore's best idea was to grow his hair to look like a Neanderthal, and he even stole that from a character on B5. :shifty:

The Klingon in the Chase was ridiculous.
The script for that episode was written by Joe Menosky.

Alien races were just not depicted very well in the latter part of TNG.
Since when was Moore in charge of the later part of TNG? Michael Piller was in charge of TNG's writing staff during seasons 3-7, Jeri Taylor was next after him. At no time on TNG or DS9 was Moore in charge of the writing staff. So why do you claim that Moore is at fault for your feeling that the aliens were stupid as opposed to Piller or Taylor? Or the other writers at Moore's general level, such as Braga and Echeverria? Give actual examples from episodes written by Moore, you can use bullet-points if you wish. :)

Seriously, what's your beef with Moore? Did he sleep with your wife or something?

I love how Kor died, was Moore part of that?
Well, he's credited with that episode, so probably. ;)

If Klingons were ridiculous in TNG, they were ridiculous in their early appearances, when they were first shown as biker samurais who keep talking about "honor". When Moore started writing about them in "Sins of the Father", their society gained complexity and they started to make a lot more sense since it was showed that there are actually a lot of political machinations going on in the Klingon Empire and that "honor" is usually just a catchphrase, contrary to Worf's idealized views.
