Moon

Well, it's nice that Duncan Jones got an award. He did a very good job considering Moon only cost £5M to make. Sam Rockwell shone though -- he could have done with an award, or at least a nomination, as well.

He could have been nominated for best actor and best supporting actor. :)

Well, I'm in the minority again. I saw this yesterday. I thought it was an okay film, but it didn't blow me away. It had some interesting ideas. It started off bloody slow and nearly put me to sleep. It picked up when weird things seemed to happen, but I quickly clued in and hung in to see how it would work out.

It was interesting and it was different, but I didn't think it amazing.

Great movie, but I thought that the story might have been told better with different editing.
Imagine if the movie started when the 2nd Sam Bell awakens (the one that Gerty wakes up after the 1st Sam is in the accident). To us, the audience, he's the main guy, then as per normal, he discovers that there's something wrong, there's a mystery for him (and the audience). Just as in the movie, he then finds 'himself' in a crashed moon buggy thingy.
Then.. the backstory of how that accident happened etc is told through flashbacks, or dialogue, and so on.
Just a thought.

I figured I would enjoy the movie, and that ended up being accurate. I thoroughly enjoyed Sam Rockwell's efforts, loved Kevin Spacey as the voice of Gerty, and just felt it was a solid work of science fiction all around. It was certainly better than much of what we get for Sci-fi today.

It felt like a decent piece of SF short fiction. It was told competently enough, but I can't bring myself to gush over it.
