Moon -- actually going to be good?

I didn't realize it was only getting a limited initial release till a few days ago. Man, that's a pisser. <_<
Me neither, I'm not going to drive to Los Angeles to see a random movie. How hard is it to put this on one damned screen somewhere in San Diego? How many explosions does a 'sci-fi' movie need before it's economically viable? Someone should do a study.
Maybe it'll hit blu-ray nice and quick and save me the trip to the theater altogether.

I'm very much looking forward to this movie ever since I heard it's gonna be a One-man show with Rockwell.

If they (God forbid) ever remake 2001, Kevin Spacey would be absolutely perfect for HAL. He can do that wry, knowing tone so well.
Ditto. And Spacey is the voice of "HAL"? He finally lives up to his name!
So apparently this is only playing in 8 theaters in all of North America at the moment (don't know exactly which cities). Don't know when it's going to expand to more screens.

IMDb and Wikipedia both list its UK release date as July 17th.

And I'd love to hear Spacey's version of HAL slowly going insane. He'd say "I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that..." with quite a bit of menace.

i saw it at the cinema tonight and really liked it. Only about 40% capacity audience at the 8pm show.
A real sci-fi film. Sam Rockwell gave a great performance. great music and production design. good pacing and a feel for "2001 A space odyssey". Pacing also reminded me of Soderburgh's "Solaris".
very minimal cgi work that consisted of composited stars & moon shots to the model work. a little like "Aliens" (1986) model work.
enjoyed it a lot. first film i saw since "Primer" that wasn't a action movie (within a sci-fi film).
i don't want to give away anything. no spoilers.
I would have preferred a female computer voice instead of Kevin Spacey. He did remind me of HAL 9000 though.

Apparently the director is already working on a sequel. Which will actually be more like a 'coda' to this film. Ultimately the director wants to do three films in this series.

Moon reminded me of the The spacecraft interior design of Discovery that we saw in 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) and "2010" (1984) and some of the interior ship design of Mars-1 from Red Planet (2000), the Nostromo living areas from Alien (1979) and living areas on the U.S.S. Sulaco in Aliens (1986), the station from Solaris (2002)

Clint Mansell, who scored the absolutely gorgeous score for The Fountain, did the music for Moon, which adds yet another reason why I'm really looking forward to this film.
