Moments that Made You Emotional

I didn't feel emotional with the episode with Lal. I thought her character was a little too bizarre and contrived to really feel connected to it. Her death at the end didn't make much sense. It looked like they needed a dramatic moment and they pulled that one like a rabbit out of a hat.

The Visitor gets me every single time

Similitude,

Voyagers first contact with starfleet

Oh, in The Measure of a Man, when Data talks about Tasha Yar being special to him. That had me weeping. Her death didn’t necessarily make me emotional when I first saw that episode, but Data’s reaction to it is what really got me.

There were a lot of Data moments that made me cry. Especially when he turns down Q’s offer to become human, in Hide and Q.

K’Ehyler’s death was really sad too. I felt so bad for Worf. And then years later he finally finds love again and Jadzia dies too. It’s like every chance he has to find love is taken from him.

Strangely, several come from the newest movies:
James's birth while George dies protecting him (and everyone)
When Amanda tells Spock that no matter what, he'll have a proud mother.
When Sarek tells Spock he married Amanda because he loved her.
The little tribute to Leonard Nimoy/Spock in Star Trek Beyond
Kirk letting Edith Keeler die
Spock's death (especially back then when we didn't know if he'd come back or not)
McCoy's private talk with Spock on the way to Vulcan in The Search for Spock
The ending of The Inner Light

To name a few

The novels do it a third time!
Nooooo! Really???? Does he ever find a mate? It’s even worse because Klingons are supposed to mate for life. He can’t even be with someone for more than one season without them being killed off.

Not sure? I haven't followed current Trek Lit for a few years now.

In 2384, Worf and Choudhury resumed their relationship but she was killed by the Breen commander Thot Kren while on an away mission to recover B-4 who had been stolen. (TNG - Cold Equations novel: The Persistence of Memory)

The scene in "The Visitor" when Benjamin says to old Jake "my sweet boy". I'm not a father (that I know of;)) but I get a little condensation around my eyes whenever I watch it.

TNG "The Inner Light" at the end of the show when Captain Picard picks up the flute and plays it remembering his family of 40 years that he never really had while the enterprise slowly fades away.

Pike's death and Spock's "because you are my friend" realisation in Into Darkness.

The Stamets/Culber stuff in Discovery gave me feels, as did Tyler breaking down to Micheal on the ISS Shenzhou.

Reactions: JKM
  • The Visitor - Tony Todd is amazing and it's such a touching story.
  • The Offspring - I get more emotional for Data and his loss than for Lal actually dying.
  • Star Trek (2009) opening scene - We don't get much with these characters, but between Chris Hemsworth's performance and the music that takes over when the ship explodes, not a dry eye on my face.
  • What You Leave Behind montage - So good.
  • When Jim tells Pam she is everything to him - Wait... wrong show
  • Star Trek: Nemesis - Data's death and the subsequent scene on the bridge (what's left of it) and the memorial. Although I feel they missed an opportunity. Although Riker couldn't remember the tune Data was trying to whistle (I don't think I could remember back 15 years to what my friend whistled), I think it would have been neat if he remembered the Pinocchio reference and had a similar line to Kirk's in Star Trek II. Riker should have noted that Data's sacrifice was the most human thing he ever did and that, to Riker, Pinocchio had become a real boy. [insert gut punch here]
  • Star Trek Generations - From the moment Picard got the news about his family to his conversation with Troi, Patrick Stewart turned in an amazing performance.
  • Star Trek III - I'll echo someone from earlier in that Kirk's reaction to hearing that David died was just perfect. He goes to sit down and misses the chair! How many times has Kirk sat down in that chair that he would miss it?! That just shows how Kirk's world just closed in on himself and he was momentarily unaware of his surroundings.
I guess I'll leave it at that.

I don't like to admit it but I got a bit choked up watching Odo and Dr Moro reconcile at the end of "The Alternate".

I was moved when Dr Moro asked Odo if he "could be a part of your life again".

Number two is similar. DS9 - The Begotten. Odo really wanted a child as well, and it died. He had so much he wanted to teach it. So freaking sad.

:wah:
So sad. But it was also bitter sweet when Odo realized he got his shape shifting abilities back. Maybe more bitter than sweet, though.

True. I still don’t know how I feel about him joining the link in What You Leave Behind. I kind of hoped he would have tried it and then realized that he didn’t belong and he really belonged with Kira among the humans. I really rooted for them.
