Moments on Discovery that Remind You of ST Online

USS Triumphant

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I've been rewatching season 1, and I've really been struck by the number of times I've been reminded of missions in ST:O. The weapons practice with Lorca and Tyler. Michael going into Sarek's mind over and over, trying to save him, failing, and having to run the mission again until she got it right. The Klingons getting XP and rewarded a cloaking device for their ships for capturing the Admiral. Stamets and/or Michael running the Harry Mudd time loop mission over and over.

Do any moments like that stand out to you? I'll post more as I go - next episode is the one where Saru loses his crap. :D

The way every story, no matter how nuanced it may have briefly looked, ends with a boss fight of some description? The whole season being space battles, ground battles, back to space battle and wrap up twice?
Lots of glowed things?
Wondering if everyone but the main ship was some sort of noob that didn’t sort their load Out?
The tutorial mission where a captain dies erode we follow the main character, who is god-mode?
Yeah.
I got that feeling too xD
But STO has prettier ships. Well. Now it does.

In the episode "The Wolf Inside", Captain Burnham receives a mission from the Emperor and it is *literally* accompanied by the same noise ST:O plays when a mission pops up. LOL.

That's pretty funny.

Discovery's shipboard sound effects are all over the map. Rather than have their own library they seem to borrow from every other Trek series. I spot loads of Next Gen sounds (like opening hailing frequencies) and the final MU episode in particular had lots of the bleepy-bloopy TOS button noises.

I don't know if it is used in STO but does anyone recall hearing the Klingon disrupter in Discovery...

listen closely where they are breaking into the shuttle to kidnap Lorca.

I don't see that many things that remind me of STO, but once it will be revealed that actually everyting was due to Iconian involvement, I'll be sure to be the first who screams "I FUCKING CALLED IT!"

But they're clearly not the same universe because the D7s look nothing alike.
