Moment in a film that made you gasp

I remember watching "Gosford Park" in the theater and the loudest gasp I ever heard came when the maid interrupted an argument between the Lord and Lady of the house (the maid used his first name outloud, implying they "knew" each other, wink, wink) and at that very moment everyone in the theater knew she was sacked!!

I don't know why I recall that--maybe because nothing really had happened in the film up to that point. But dang, that theater gasp was loud! And it wasn't even a thriller kind of movie...

The ending of Gran Torino. Even after some arse-biscuit spoiled the broad event for me while it was still in the theaters, the specific way it happened absolutely shocked the crap out of me.

All of The Road. Not so much a specific event, but just how everything just got worse and worse the entire movie. Though when the stranger was approaching the tent with the sleeping kid, I do recall that specificaly getting me.

When the guy got his penis cut off at the end of "Hostel 2." That's really all I remember about that movie.

Hmm. On a similar note, in Antichrist when She stomps His penis with a wrench(?). Some of the stuff thereafter (jacking him off and he shoots blood, the clitoral cutting scene) is merely horrifying, but that specific moment was so visceral that my entire body jerked involuntarily in sympathy.
