Moffat/Smith and animation

David Tennant had two animated specials/serials, Infinite Quest and Dreamland. I'm curious, does anybody think there will be something similar for Matt Smith?

Why not? There have already been those four games, which he did voices for, and he's done more audios than his predecessor did at the same time in his reign. (one year on, I mean)

And the Moff seems to like to do things specially for children, so it seems like a natural. Perhaps even an ongoing Doctor Who cartoon series with the same voices?

I don't see any reason why not and I think Matt would be a fun actor to render in animation (ditto Karen). I suppose it depends on how much the BBC got out of Dreamland in terms of returns (Infinite Quest was part of Totally Doctor Who, which got cancelled so it doesn't count, really). Did Dreamland score good ratings when it was shown? Did the DVDs sell? If not, then the BBC might not go for it, especially given BBC Video's ongoing reluctance to finance any further animated reconstructions of lost episodes because apparently The Invasion must have sold only 6 copies or something.

I just figured the 'animated Matt Smith' slot was filled by the computer-animated online games - they do sort of make up a new adventure, Piers Wenger says they're canonical, and Matt & Karen had to do an equivalent amount of voiceover work. Mind you, I'd love there to be an Eleventh Doctor animated project of some kind, so I'm perfectly willing to be wrong.

I'd be up for a Matt Smith Eleventh Doctor animated project. I suppose it'd be up to the BBC and Moffat to come up with a suitable story to tell.

Provided a storyline is thought up that is felt would work best in animation, I see no reason why they wouldn't do an animated special for Matt Smith.

It sold better than average, the trouble was they didn't pay for the Invasion. BBC Online paid for it, then no longer had a use for it, so sold it cheaply to 2|Entertain to release on DVD.

If they could get further episodes for that price, they would release them.

I also think the games are instead of them (Ironically David really wanted to do a game VO)

Matt's also had a pivotal role with the Live and Experience video sequences.

I wish "The Invasion" sold as well as Tennant's animated stories seemed to have sold, since they made more than one of those. It might be fun to watch another animated "reconstruction" of an otherwise lost classic episode. "Marco Polo," mayhaps?
