Modern Warfare 3 Details Leaked

I think that if these games eschewed closer to reality, I think the developers would be at a loss. Here is an article from Wikipedia on modern warfare: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_warfare. The warfare depicted in these games is more closer to the warfare practiced in World War II which considering the origin of the Call of Duty series is not surprising.

I didn't believe the premise that because an American was involved in a terrorist attack that the Russian government would attack the U.S. First, why would our government sanction one of our citizens to become involve and participate in the actions of a terrorist group? We deliberately kill leaders and their cronies, and accidentally kill citizens as a result of mechanical or human failure. Second, the Russian government would resolve the crisis through diplomacy. In our modern world, nations seek to address their issues through diplomacy. If diplomacy fails, then there are sanctions. Warfare is a last option for many developed nations.

If we follow the logic of the game, than our nation would have invaded Egypt because Mohamed Atta, the leader of the 9-11 terrorists, was born there. Continuing with this logic, the US wouldn't have gone after the Taliban or Al Qaeda.

This series isn't the only one to feature a communist nation invading the United States. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 shows an invasion by Russia via Alaska and Canada. Homefront, though not a series, is a game about North Korea invading the U.S.

This idea of Russia invading the U.S. is not new to this generation of games. I played Freedom Fighters on the first XBOX. In that game, set in an alternate universe, the Russians invaded the U.S.

Other games I have played - Frontlines: Fuel of War and Fallout 3 - I think have a stronger tie to reality than the Modern Warfare or Battlefield series. (I know that FO3 is set in an alternate reality; however, I feel the premise for the events has some plausibility.) Both of these games feature a world where nations are struggling to obtain resources through diplomacy and warfare. If our world does experience a large war between developed nations, the basis for this war will be over the dwindling resources that drive the industrial base of these nations. Oil, for example. Our DoD has prepared contingency plans for such an occurrence.

i was reading an article on Steam the other day from PC Gamer about MW3 multiplayer

Commando, OMA and Stopping Power perks are out
Knife range is reduced
air support will no longer be so important (IE less air kill-streaks i presume)
a self-destructing care pack was mentioned as a streak reward
another was some kind of mortar or artillery barrage

no nukes.

ah, found a list of perks. apparently... team perks?

team perks:

Blast Shield: Unknown.
Health Regen: Regenerate health over time.
Stun Protection: Prevent stunning from flash grenades.

Individual perks:

Blind Eye: This makes you immune to computer-controlled and player-controlled killstreaks. The pro version makes your launchers lock on faster and gives you extra bullet damage to vehicles.
Assassin: This makes you immune to UAV, thermal, and heartbeat sensors. The pro version also makes you immune to CUAV, EMP and no longer shows your name in red or the crosshair in red when you're targeted.
Point Guard: Every two assists count as a kill towards your killstreak.
Dead Silence: You make no noise.
Recon: Gives you a special kind of radar to spot enemies, most likely. We're not sure on this one.

Killstreaks:

EMP Grenade: Temporarily takes out all area electronics.
Littlebird: A small-manned helicopter that can controlled and used to gun down enemies.
Precision Airstrike: Calls in an airstrike on a targeted area.
Stealth bomber: Calls in a B2 Spirit to carpet bomb along a line designated by the player.
Remote Turret: A remote controlled turret.
Directional UAV: A UAV that can be directed into areas to scan for enemies.
Remote Mortar: Direct a mortar team using a zoomable camera view of the map to call in strikes.
Airdrop Trap: A booby-trapped airdrop.
Ammo Resupply: An ammo reloading airdrop.
Escort Airdrop: A protected airdrop.
Specialist Strike Package: This one remains a mystery to us.

Apparently, the list of Perks and Killstreak Rewards that will feature in MW3 has been leaked onto the internet. Take all this with a pinch of salt for the time being, because nothing has been officially confirmed...

Some of that sounds good, other parts not so much. So do you get to pick what kill streak path your class is on or what? If getting a 6 kill streak gives you a total of 6 pro perks then I'll be an unstoppable killing machine...

Blastshield: Flack Jacket (Immune to most explosives). Pro: Immune to stuns and flashes

Interesting, might cut down on the grenade spam and noob tubing. Or at least protect you from it.

Some Multiplayer details have allegedly leaked ahead of the COD XP event at the weekend. Again, nothing official, but we only have to wait 'til the weekend to find out for sure...

Modern Warfare 3 also looks like it will feature 32 player multiplayer, in contrast to the 18 player limit from previous games.

The last noteworthy detail of the so-called leak is the inclusion of a new Bomb mode in multiplayer. While Team Deathmatch also makes an appearance, which is hardly a surprise, nothing else is known about the new Bomb game type.

32 players, i assume they have some new uber player match making system in the works for MW3, or didicated servers, becuse the previous games with 18 players the majority of the time turned into MW back to the lobby again, special editions.:lol:

They've already confirmed dedicated servers for the PC version, but the console versions will have no such luck. The matchmaking better be up to scratch.

^^ I agree, t'would be great if it worked, but they've never really got 18 players to work, let alone 32!

13 MP maps from the start, sounds about right. Can't wait to start shooting up Paris!

For some reason they use theatre mode  Still, it does show you the maps, and some of the perks and rewards.

The second trailer's supposed to be much better but I don't think it's up yet.

Yeah, I caught the second trailer on the livestream of CoD XP. Lots of gameplay footage. Looks good. Specialist kill streaks... at 8 KS you are given EVERY perk in the game. This is fantastic for me :)

Assault killstreaks will still be fun when I want to do the AC130 thing and have fun. The support killstreaks will be ok too I think. They say it'll help casual players because it doesn't reset, and it will also help make objective modes feel less like TDM killstreak whorefests. I agree with those points, but it will also provide another nice change of pace, and I can imagine racking up a LOT of rewards if I don't have to worry about dying. In Domination 50+ kills, 10+ defends, and 5+ captures is pretty normal... that sounds like a lot of care packages.
