Ruminations:
PONE! PONE! PONE! PONE! PONE! The first two part season opener for season 5 is here! The trailers for this episode seem to indicate some kind of totalitarian regime where everyone is the same, and individuality is not celebrated. What this means we have yet to discover, but I can't wait until it starts. I'm on figurative pins and needles waiting for this premier, and I'm hoping we will be rewarded for the long drought of pony.

For those of you who are new to this, you can grade the episode by choosing from one of the letter grades in the poll. During the season, I only use the basic 5 letter grades, but at the end of the season there will be a more nuanced poll.

Let the speculation begin, but remember, no spoilers for now!

Starlight Glimmer?

Okay, been avoiding all spoilers so that's new (okay it's the official blurb so it's fine).

Just...does that sound to anyone else like a 3rd student?

Man this is sounding like all Celestia's students run off to try and be dictators, no wonder she controlled Twilight so much, if that's the case.

This sounds exciting. And I'm glad they'll show both parts right after each other. The season 5 trailer seems to suggest this will be part of an arc for this season invoöving a magical map.

Or that despite her best efforts, they fell to the Dark Side of the Horse.

I'm wondering why that happens so often around her though...

And yeah, the map looks like it'll be giving them their weekly "mission" to go out and solve.

I wonder if the Harmony Tree's roots have grown across most of Equestria or something.

Maybe, like Twilight, they strive to be the perfection they think she is, and they think they have failed.

The only difference is that Twilight has seen her teacher as another pony like herself, but with years of experience. She loves Celestia genuinely and can see the flaws.

I can't wait! :D
Me neither! :D

Which may be the crucial reason why Twilight didn't go AWOL. Of course, as we saw, she did have a bit of a nervous breakdown.

Yeah, at least two of them are doing well for themselves now, and both earned their wings. I think Glimmer's going to be a one off though.

All set here, drink, snacks, watching Bronystate's pre-show.

Yeah they're all seriously creepy. They're implying that they used to have their own cutie marks and they vanished?

I didn't think that could happen, losing it or changing it like that. Not without magical intervention anyway.

Yikes, yeah. I wasn't expecting it to be quite that literal.

When Twilght mentioned the 9 magical items I was thinking that would be the mission for the series, locating and disposing of them. But it sounds like the other 8 already have been, oh well.

It's definitely going down the whole cult/brainwashing route.

Not sure if that towelling off was meant to be so suggestive but alright

Also, Henna cutie marks lol

Yup, I think we'll be seeing them all again eventually, if only for the finale.

I like how they have their own little gang now, I love their proper designs. Glimmer will likely be the villain for a while.

So close to being an "A" for me, but I gave it a "B". It wasn't bad, just didn't feel like they really did as much with the story as they could.
