Ruminations:
The Yaks are back! I'm not so sure if that's a good thing, but having Pinkie involved is sure to make this an interesting episode. I'm not really keen on the Yaks, as I've mentioned before, but perhaps they've mellowed out somewhat? Eh, probably not. Ah well, on to the episode!

Special Note: This is the last episode before the mid-season hiatus. We won't have pony for a month or two, I believe, so this is the best time to catch up.

This episode was okay. I'm not really a fan of the Yaks, as they're too loud and obnoxious for my liking. Some may think I would feel the same about Pinkie Pie, but she's endearing; her loudness and obnoxiousness comes from joy, and kindness. She has a genuine love and spirit of laughter that I find ameliorates any of her more frustrating habits. The Yaks, though, are stubborn and angry, even when they're happy. That fits some folks just fine, but not me.

In this episode, Pinkie Pie visits the Yaks in Yakyakistan to celebrate their annual festival, which consists of stomping things, eating, listening to music, and sleeping. Doesn't sound half bad, really. The problem arises when their carousing causes an avalanche, burying the town and leaving them without food, beds, or shelter. Prince Rutherford tries to barrel through it in stubborn fashion, as Pinkie tries to convince him to accept help, to his constant refusal.

Ultimately, Pinkie simply gets Twilight and company to come help her clean up the town while the Yaks sleep. The Yaks celebrate this, saying that for them, friends don't ask, they just help. For me that's a mixed message. It's great to help a friend, but it's not good to meddle in their lives if they're not asking for help. Finding the dividing line is difficult, and often friends cross it without realizing even after years of friendship. This episode gives the message that it's okay to go over the wishes of your friend, and solve their problems anyway, even if that means deceiving them in the process. I don't think that's the message they were hoping to convey, but I think that's the message being imparted.

Overall, the story was okay, the Yaks were irritating for me, as usual, and the moral isn't what I'd call a clear one. This episode gets a C from me. That's the lowest grade I've scored so far for this season.

I'm giving this one a B. Pinkie as an ambassador is funny and we got insight into the yak culture. But yeah, dealing with Prince Rutherford is a pain in the patoot!
ETA:Sorry I was late reviewing this one!

Sorry for the double post, but two new eppies tomorrow after over a month. Yes, Australia, I know you got them early!
