Ruminations:
w00t! Continuity! We get to revisit the Grand Galloping Gala this week! We also get to see the continued development of the friendship between Discord and Fluttershy. Any episode that features more Discord and Fluttershy is definitely a good thing, so I'm curious to see how all of this plays out.

It's a G1/2 villain created by the human witches in that series, made up of black toxic like sludge and has hundreds of eyes.

What a fun episode! After the hiatus, the cuteness of Fluttershy nearly killed me and then it was topped off with the cutely dressed CMCs.
Since I stayed spoiler-free I didn't know Discord would be in it. How great to see him again. I especially love and appreciate all the little chaotic things that happen around him like the clean dishes getting dirty or him morphing out of a mirror. Poor Spike will probably require some therapy, though.
Tree Hugger is in the running for best pony for me. Her speech is accompanied by psychedelic music, after all.

The ending made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I hope Discord rescued the postpony afterwards now that he's gotten over his jealousy.

I love all their dresses and manestyles. Lyra's mum was apparently in the background somewhere, people mentioning several Doctor's hidden around too, and Milky Way yet again.

Still don't like Tree Hugger very much, not sure how they got away with a character stoned out of their minds the whole episode.

Trollestia was still one of the best bits though.

I finally got the chance to watch it, and I have to say I loved it! There were so many references in this episode!

Spoiler: Keep Discord Spoilers

* In the scene where Discord visits Pinkie Pie, he appears in a box that has a red exclamation mark over his head, along with an accompanying sound. This is a reference to Metal Gear: Solid, where Snake infiltrates the compound by hiding in a box.

* The suits he and the Smooze wear are direct references to Harry and Lloyd from the first Dumb and Dumber movie, when they attend the charity ball to save the animals.

*During Discord's comedy routine, he imitates and dresses like the following comedians:
Eddie Murphy
Jerry Seinfeld
Rodney Dangerfield
Gallagher

I love Fluttershy's new friend, Treehugger. I think they look adorable together. I would be remiss if I didn't add that I'd already started shipping them in my own head canon.

It was also nice to see Princess Celestia loosened up (i.e; drunk). Also, adorable pony mane styles for the win! I saw Dashie's and squee'd! All in all, this episode gets an "A" from me. It had a little bit of everything, and I loved it all.

I swear, I don't think I could have handled any more if Discord would have caused all that trouble, looked around, saw the destruction and said to Smooze (since Smooze can't talk), "Man, this party really died."

This is now one of my favorite episodes this season.

Yep. I think they were a bit off these past couple of episodes, but this one puts them firmly back on track and tongue-in-cheek.
