Ruminations:
We'll finally get to meet one of Pinkie Pie's sisters, so this should prove interesting. I'm hoping for some more strong character development for Pinkie, though it will be nice to see more background characters fleshed out a bit more. All of this makes Equestria into a rich, complex fantasy world, one that I love to see growing. So, once more, on to the show!

Wow, Emo Pie.

[walken]Oh boy, I can see how much fun this is going to be already.[/walken]

I forgot about you lot having Daylight Savings already. Missed it! :( Will have to wait for my usual sources to get it.

I wandered over to Bornystate for the usual pre-show and loaded it up to see the opening credits, missed the first few minutes.

I forgot you changed DST 3 weeks before us so the start time changed, ugh.

An ok episode. But they basically just made Maud the pony version of Yuki from Haruhi Suzumiya. And about 2 people are going understand that reference.

I loved it. To be honest, it was a B episode until the end, but those last 30 seconds shot it straight up to an "A," because the feels were just there. Maud herself is an interesting character. She really is like the other girls in terms of her personal ethics. She's honest, kind, generous, etc., but she's more introverted it seems. I also like Maud's design, her personality, it all works for me, and the thing is, you can clearly see how much she does love Pinkie Pie, and that makes this episode awesome.

Who voiced her? Didn't sound like Tara Strong even though there was a slight Raven-esque quality to her voice. Actually, it was an intriguing blend of Raven and Daria.

Sincerely,

Bill

Ingrid Nilson was the voice of Maud Pie. Here is some background info on her. :)

On another note, hearing her openly say she loved Pinkie Pie just really touched me. The small smile on her face, which she afforded for nothing else, just made me tear up. It really did, and it gratified me to hear one character openly say they love another character. It was just so sweet. I want more of that. More love. Put it on TV.

Biggest like from the episode: Happy ending, but it didn't end with them all being BFFs. There's a respect, but they didn't end up being best buds.

Biggest let down: Pinkie. For her episode, didn't see, like she had a lot to do beyond showing up for a gag or reporting the plot over and over.

Though it does show the contrast between herself and her big sister, which is what the episode was shooting for. Still, that ending gets me. :adore:

I thought it would have been a cute "inside joke" ("meta humor") if Strong had voiced Maud using her "Raven" voice. Just as "Teen Titans Go" winks at the audience by having Raven be a secret fan of "Pretty, Pretty Pegasus", that series equivalent to MLP.

Oh, well, a lost opportunity.

Sincerely,

Bill

I'd be pretty sure that Tara Strong, being the only cast member working from the States, would likely also be the most expensive of the VO cast to use. In Canada you're generally paid by the line, so while it WOULD be neat to hear her other voices in a cameo (Harley Quinn Pony, anyone?), "Let's use Tara for another character" is not likely be the first thing the producers think.

Yep. There was never an "I love..." moment until now, and I think it's awesome that we heard it given by one pony to another. Love is, after all, the ultimate form of friendship.
