Great episode. I love Rarity, but felt so bad for Sweetie Belle. Fortunately, we saw Rarity come through for her little sister. Oh, and I knew it was Rarity under that mud the moment I saw those blue eyes. :adore:

One of the popular fanon interpretations of Dinky is that she's Derpy's daughter, either by adoption or a unicorn father. Seeing her at the Social with an adult unicorn sister raises some questions about how plausible that is.

I just rewatched the episode and I'm upgradingthe rating to an "A". So freaking good. The finale really benefits from knowing going in that it's Rarity. Plus I think I've been underrating the episodes this season from watching them live; Commercial television really sucks the joy out when it interrupts the story every five minutes with commercials. Blech.

Copying what I wrote over at BK: (I'm lazy like that)

OHMIGOD SO AWESOME! I'M DYING OF CUTENESS AND ABSOLUTE FABULOUSNESS RIGHT NOW!!

To elaborate, I have been in Rarity's position, (I don't know if I was in the right or wrong, and I'm thinking of my little little brother, not JacoDash) so the first half of the episode was absolutely brilliant, especially when Rarity found the picture.

Honestly loved every second of that. I don't even mind that most of the cast were absent. I was just enjoying my 22 minutes of Rarity. And I think this is definitely my favourite episode of season 2 already, if not overall.

And to add, I agree with what has been said in this thread, that Rarity is such an interesting character and Tabitha St.Germain is so talented, that it makes her so enjoyable to watch.

Sure she may not have been in the right, but her character is such a joy to watch that I'm willing to forgive it by the time it was over. And her 'redemption' throughout the episode was all kinds of brilliant.

Definitely Granny Smith for the win. Rocking back and forth up to the speaker and poking her eye at the last second, I couldn't help but laugh at that.

I think Celestia opening the 'friendship lessons' to all the ponies at the end of "Lesson Zero" was a great idea on the part of the writers, because Twilight would have been totally superfluous in this episode. You really only needed the two pairs of sisters to tell the story here.

I'd actually forgotten that had happen until they actually started dictating the letter. I was wondering about halfway through why they hadn't shoehorned Twlight in yet like usual, and then why Spike was hanging around with Rarity and Sweetie on his own.

^Yeah, I recently caught a rerun of "The Stare Master," and it hit me how unnecessary Twilight was in that episode. About the only real purpose she serves is to turn to stone so Fluttershy knows there's a cockatrice loose in the Everfree Forest. :p
