Doctor Whooves had a nice little cameo.
Really? I was looking out for him and didn't see him. Which scene was he in?
When they showed the total chaos occurring in Ponyville (remember the dancing buffalo? and Screwball, my current avatar?), Doctor Whooves trotted around the edges of the screen.
ETA: No, I was incorrect. I just noticed a few posts up, Chemahkuu posted the clip I was thinking of, but that's not Doctor Whooves. That pony has a mane that is too lightly colored. So... ?

That was the 5th Doctor Whooves. We're just used to seeing the 10th.
I'm sure Discord was defeated so easily because Hasbro would never allow more than a certain level of violence to appear on a kid's show - fighting is generally obscured by cutting away from the actual impact or (as was the case in this two parter) obscuring the actual fighting in a cloud of dust. Hell, I'm surprised they even showed Rarity Kung-Fu-ing Applejack at the top of the episode. Anyone expecting any sort of detailed "battle" in this show is likely to be disappointed.

I didn't expect a big battle. I was just hoping for something that would diminish/block his power over Equestria, but allow him to remain as an occasional thorn in the ponies' sides. As I posted in the Part 1 thread:
I'm hoping that Disqord doesn't get banished to where he cannot return or turned to stone. That's more Celestia's style, not Twilight's. Twilight would want somepony to learn and grow from their mistakes.
I will faint deadaway if the final lines of part 2 turn out to be:
TWILIGHT: Why do you use ponies for recreation?
DISQORD: If so, you've not provided the best..
TWILIGHT: Leave us! We've passed your little test.
DISQORD: Temper, temper, mon petit poney.
TWILIGHT: Get out of Equestria!
DISQORD: I do so only because it suits me to. But I will not promise never to appear again.

I took a crack at it. It just meets the allowable limits for the board:
Hey, that's cool. Too bad it's too big. Or is it? What's the limit, anyway? I guess a transparent background wouldn't help?
It actually is within the limits, I just tested it and it uploaded just fine and was displayed.
I'll stay with Halloweeny Doctor Whooves for the moment, though.

Yep. Certain animations are harder to compress and fit due to the complexity of the image, and to be honest, MLP has LOTS of complexity in every frame, so after some cutting, editing, splicing, and evil graphical chicanery, I was able to get the initial 1.5mb file down to 122KB with some loss of color (which drives me nuts).
