MLB World Series 2018: Eh. Dodgers/Boston. Eh.

It'll be interesting to watch. The Astros have the best run differential in the league by a not-insignificant margin, but I'm starting to wonder about their starting depth, and whether or not Verlander's age will begin to show. How Correa returns from injury is also going to be an open question. On the flipside, you've got Oakland and Seattle; with Seattle, they're playing out of their minds and with a closer who is effectively unhittable but they just lost King Felix (who is arguably no longer King; his janky delivery has finally caught up to him), and conversely with Oakland, their bats have come alive but their rotation is composed of toothpicks, duct tape, Juicy Fruit and prayers.

And despite all that, with more than 60 games to go, there are only eight games separating the top three teams.

The NL Central and the AL West are going to be fun. Here's hoping for some Game 163 / 164 chaos reigns bullshit.

Well, the Angels now have 3 pitchers undergoing TJ surgery.

I hear Scioscia is having tryouts at the local Y.

Matt Duffy is hitting .315 and spraying the ball all over the place. I hated the Giants’ decision to trade him when it was made, and I still hate it.

Cardinals fire Mike Matheny and two coaches. Name bench coach interim manager.

As a Cardinals fan, I'm not surprised - fans have been calling for this for a few years. The head batting coach, John Mabry, was a friend of Matheny's. And from my understanding, Mabry operated under the "No matter what, try to hit for a home run/only home runs" philosophy. Which hasn't really worked for anyone, including players known for home runs.

It'll be interesting to see if the team's problems were (mainly) in the management and if this change helps at all. Speculation is already on Joe Girardi to eventually become the manager.

Wasn't it the GM who was bad-mouthing Fowler a few weeks ago?

So a new manager probably doesn't change the culture of the "Cardinal Way™". As a Cubs fan, I can't say I'm disappointed at how it's going down in St. Louis.

Probably not. I was a fan of both Will Clark and Jim Edmonds, so in the past, I rooted for the Cardinals insofar as the two of them benefited. These days, the only thing I find appealing about the Cardinals is their road-blue caps. The entire organization needs an overhaul.

Lots of rumblings that Manny Machado to Philadelphia is getting announced on Wednesday morning. If true, Andy MacPhail is a master of the dark arts.

^The Phillies have rebuilt much faster than I thought they would. They’ve a good chance of winning that division.

Per Jon Heyman, Andy MacPhail to the Phillies to work with Gillick is a done deal and will be announced soon.

That sound you just heard was the rest of the NL going, "Aw, fuck."
