MLB Talk - 2010 Season

For a fan of a team that won the division for basically ten years, you're surprisingly bitter about the handful of times the Phils have won.

EDIT: Phillies won in extras. Not great, but a win is a win.

Nah... that was from the series against the Braves. Halladay deserved that win. I was just irritated that Fox (and John Kruk) still manages to bash the Braves at every opportunity. How much does it take to show that we're doing better than the rest of the NL east this year?

Are they giving up anything useful?

Jesus Montero, who is their top prospect. He is an incredible offensive player, but suited to a 1B/DH type. I don't know about the others.

I wonder if this pushes the Red Sox to try to deal for Jason Werth?

Well, I'm assuming the Phillies are losing him in the offseason, so I wouldn't be opposed to that (heartbreaking as a Phils fan, but logical).

Cliff Lee to the Rangers. Looks like the Yankees were trying to trade damaged goods for Lee and got caught.

Lee's first pitch as a Ranger? The All-Star Game.

Brilliance.

I love seeing the Ms play the Yanks to drive up the price. Hows that feel Yankees? Now you know how every other major league team feels when they try to do FA battles with you.

Omar Infante goes 4-4 with a homerun so far, chasing R.A. Dickey from the game... new trend on Twitter is #He'sAnAllStarSoSuckIt!

Thank God that Lee isn't a Yankee. At least there is some semblance of sanity in the Majors.

Looks like the fan who was injured at last Tuesday's Rangers/Indians game (he fell off the upper deck trying to catch a foul ball) has been released from the hospital. He is now recovering at home... Linky

Yet. Considering how he'll command a nine figure salary, it'll be the usual suspects once again trying to sign him -- Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Cubs, White Sox, Dodgers, Mets, maybe the Phillies.

I'd take the Cubs off that list, as Tom Ricketts has made it pretty clear that the Cubs will be shedding payroll for the next few years as his family tries to get back on its feet after purchasing the team.

So if Wood ends up pitching a perfect game (has one through 7 now) that would probably mean Halladay would be the only pitcher in history to throw a perfect game AND have the opposing pitcher pitch a perfect game against him.

So instead he goes to a bankrupt team being funded by every OTHER team in the league :borg:

It's actually better this way, Yankees will just pick him up in the off season and not have to trade any prospects

On another note, great game between the Reds and Phillies today. Probably one of the more exciting games I've seen in a while

I was really hoping the Twins would get Cliff Lee. With the way their starters have been playing lately, they certainly could've used him. Hard to stay in a game when your pitchers keep giving up multiple home runs each game (I think they've given up 14 in the last 5 games).
