To paraphrase the B-52's...

We were in the stadium
A home run fell in my beer
Someone at home plate hit it
It was...Nick Swisher!

Aaaaa, aaaaa, aaaaa, aaa
Nick Swisher!
Aaaaa, aaaaa, aaaaa, aaa
Nick Swisher!

We were in the stadium
Everybody had matching jerseys
Somebody went under the bleachers
And there they saw a rock
But it wasn't a rock.
It was...Nick Swisher!

Aaaaa, aaaaa, aaaaa, aaa
Nick Swisher!
Aaaaa, aaaaa, aaaaa, aaa
Nick Swisher!

Motion in the bullpen
The Mariners choked
Lots of trouble
Lots of doubles
Seattle's in a jam
In Yankee Stadi-am!

:D

(sorry, I've been waiting for Swish to hit a home run just so I could write that. )

Went to the Braves/Nationals game tonight. Didn't pick the best night to shell out $64 a ticket for Dugout level seats. Ouch.

Watching the Giants hit is getting embarrassing. Yeah they have spurts here and there, but more times than not, they just don't hit. It's also not a matter of getting one more big bat either. It's just the basics. Swinging at the first pitch, grounding into double plays, allowing the pitcher to have short innings. I always say if a pitcher throws less than 6 pitches to a batter, it's a terrible at-bat. You know who I would want to see as a hitting coach? Berry Bonds. Yeah he's not the most liked, but St. Louis got McGwire, and that transition went well. I think Bonds is a bit more of a bigger figure, but I think he would be a great hitting coach since before the Steroids, he was a great hitter.

Since my last HOLY SHIT THE WORLD IS ENDING post about the Red Sox having a slew of ridiculous injuries, they have now lost Clay Buchholz (1 start), Victor Martinez (15 days) and now Jason Varitek (4-6 weeks).

The Sox have now had on the DL for extended periods of time:

Josh Beckett- Number 2 Starter
Daisuke Matsuzaka- Number 5 Starter
Jacoby Ellsbury- Starting LF
Dustin Pedroia- Starting 2B
Manny Delcarmen- Bullpen Arm
Victor Martinez- Starting C
Mike Cameron- Starting CF
JD Drew- Starting RF
Jason Varitek- Backup C

Just incredible.

The Arizona Diamondbacks fired their manager A.J. Hinch and their GM Josh Byrnes.

Not at all unexpected due to their horrible record this year.

Bench Coach Kirk "Limp-off Homerun" Gibson takes over as interim manager, and former pitcher Jerry DiPoto will serve as temporary GM.

Strasburg got whupped in the 7th. Great pitcher for a bad team.
That's the situation we've got in Seattle. Cliff Lee, Feliix Hernandez, and the two surprises Doug Fister and Jason Vargas. I can't help but feel bad for them. All those great starts that go to waste. Too bad we're probably going to trade Lee, because he's the most entertaining part of the game right now.

And they almost had it today as well... :brickwall:

Oh well. Yankees had a great time of it, especially in the 3rd inning...11 runs! :techman:

It feels like the Mets blow every road game late, in the 8th or 9th. Just when you think they might pass Atlanta, they have a miserable week and go 3 games down.

Omar Infante, all-star? What the hell?

He can literally play every position... I don't really think he deserves it, but I'll take it. He has been pretty good recently. Funny story... the Braves GM called him and he thought he was being traded.

Giants play a marathon game and still lose because they can't hit. What a terrible stretch they are on. :(
