And Keith Olbermann just named Bud Selig The Worst Person in the World on Countdown. :guffaw:

I miss Olbermann being strictly a sportscaster. He's a smart, humorous guy. His political/news show though is a bit over the top, and I lean Left.

The one bad thing about replays in baseball... you add even more dead air to a baseball game. Which is okay if you like slowing down the pace of games even more I suppose.

Troy Glaus was booed in late April, and has now hit 10 home runs and led the league in RBIs last month. I hope we can resign him next year.

Selig can take immediate action and allow some form of instant replay, even if it's just allowing each manager one challenge per game. Baseball is great, but constant interruptions because the umps have to go to replay will get very old very fast. Giving each team one challenge per game wouldn't be that much of a problem.

I think adopting the College Football system would be the best. No challenges, but all plays are reviewed upstairs by another official. If a call needs to be overturned, or he needs more time to look at the play, he buzzes down to the field. Keeps the game moving, but allows instant replay on important calls.

Okay, I need to rant about the stupidity of some fans. Since the Armando Galarraga 28-out "perfect game" is the talk of the baseball world (even overshadowing Griffey's retirement), someone wrote into ESPN Up All Night tonight to proclaim the greatness of Jonathan Sanchez's 28-out perfect game last season, even though the runner reached base on an error, thus not making it a perfect game anymore.

By the time the manager runs out to argue the call, we get some theatrics, and someone gets tossed out of a game (sometimes also resulting in needing a new pitcher or position player), how much time are we talking about? If the manager really thought he got hosed, and could just throw the flag to have it checked, it'd be over with in 1 minute either way. The traditional method, running out to argue when they won't change the call no matter what, isn't quick or effective...

Yeah, it'd be nice to see a manager arguing a call count for something more than just a boost to the team's morale...'cause that's all it (possibly) does.

All true about Olbrmann. But I love The Worst Person and Oddball segment.

And he's a baseball nut, so he's okay. :)

Agreed that Drew Litton is the best sports cartoonist out there, glad he's with ESPN. :techman: I always loved his cartoons about the Colorado/Colorado State rivalry.

^ Only time I ever enjoyed watching anything having anything to do with Keith Olbermann was when Ben Affleck imitated him on SNL. :guffaw:

Pity that the Yankees lost today, although at least they made the Jays fight for it. 14 innings!

And the Mets really put the kibosh on the Marlins. :techman:

It was actually a pretty awesome game. Yeah, I'm a Jays fan but still. There are a lot of people who find pitchers' battles boring but I'm not one of them. The Yankees and the Jays had solid stuff from the starters right through the "closers." The only obviously shitty pitch was given up by Pettite to Alex Gonzalez. I'll give Jeter credit for hitting a good pitch to the opposite side to keep the Yanks in it.

Here's wishing for the sweep tomorrow. But even though I hate the Yankees with a rabid passion I respect them too much to legitimately hope for it.

Too bad the 'pen blew it for Morrow today. He deserved that win. Still, two of three against the Bombers is pretty damn good, so I won't complain.

I'm quickly losing patience with the Jays' bullpen. Between those two games against Tampa and today with the Yankees they've just been crazy bad saving games this week.
