Mass-produced playoff clothing where every team gets the same slogan is nothing new.

Why am I not seeing the two STL-DET makeup games listed anywhere? Cards are 2 games short and could finish tied with or below the Reds for seeding. I'll admit it's unlikely the Tiger would win one game, let alone two over the Cards, but WTF?

The Cards should not be getting a free pass since it was their own goddam fault they got COVID and missed games.
Those games would only be played if the affected someone being in the playoffs, not for seeding.

The commish decreed it.

Fall Frenzy? They couldn't come up with anything better than that? I know it's a play on March Madness but surely they could come up with something better. Is Manfred's magic double extra innings rule in effect for postseason? I assume the 3-batter rule is in effect.

Quick strike! Shane Bieber is crowned the second coming of Walter Johnson and the Yankees are ahead 2-0 after four pitches. Bieber had given up only 1 first inning run all year.

Journeyman outfielder and two-time World Series champion Jay Johnstone of the Phillies, Angels, Dodgers, Cubs, Yankees, White Sox, Athletics, Padres and The Naked Gun, passed away Monday at the age of 74 from COVID-19 complications.

:sigh:

I always liked that guy despite his tendency to be a Red's killer.

In The Naked Gun? You gotta' movie clip of that? I do not recall it. pardon the clip pun.

I have to admit. I am one old fart baseball fan who enjoys looking at tournament brackets and I'm really loving eight playoff games in one day. Maybe there's a tiny glimmer of hope for 2020 after all.

As a fellow old fart fan, I am finally ready to accept the DH in both leagues.

And Charlie Finley proposed giving the batter an automatic intentional walk almost 50 years ago, that I like.

But, I'm still having trouble with his yellow colored baseball idea.

Took a while (longest 9 inning game ever, 4 hours 50 minutes after all the rain delays) but Indians gone.

My wonderful Cubs went back to no-offense mode and better get their shit together quick.

and the 18 game post-season losing streak....oh my

The Indians are gone and the Cubs will be soon. Totally anemic offense. I loved the Braves-Reds game yesterday. Who says you need tons of scoring to be exciting?

Another thing I have noted in this first round of postseason action. Regardless of how fubar 2020 season has been, the playoffs still have that built-in pucker factor. Just ask Shane Bieber and Brent Suter.

Ian Anderson (not the flute player) has a 9k shutout going through 6 innings for the Braves. Also I'm sitting in sunshine in Chicagoland and for some reason the Cubs game has been postponed.

Braves win 5-0. The Reds found out that in the playoffs the other guys have good pitchers, too.

Yep, Reds October is dead and thus I have changed back my avatar.

We'll get 'em next year. ;)

It was the "orange alert" baseball idea. It didn't go over well. Pitchers complained that it was too slick to grip.
He had another idea that his fellow owners hooted at, but in retrospect makes perfect sense. At a time when owners were terrified that free agency would be the end of civilization as we know it, he suggested putting everyone on one year contracts and mamke everyone free agents at the end of the year. The owners instead decided to go with "limited" free agency, which was what Marvin Miller the player's union chief wanted all along. Miller was an honest to God socialist, who understood free enterprise better than the owners. He knew that if everyone was made a free agent the market would be flooded. With supply exceeding demand the prices would go down. By limiting the supply, Miller caused contracts to explode. Wherever he is Finley probably says "I told you so!" every time someone signs an inflated contract.

This thing where Correa and the Astros pretend like they have no idea why everyone hates them is getting real old. They seem to have convinced themselves they did nothing wrong, and therefore everyone just hates them for being good. The fun part about the Astros is that it's barely even about the cheating. It's about the smugness, the misogyny, the asshole behavior, the complete lack of consequences, the defamation of reporters, the celebration of domestic abuse, etc.

I also really fucking hate that there are two sub-.500 teams in the playoffs. FUCK YOU, Rob Manfred.
