The Rays' stadium plan is off the table; they won't move until at least 2024. I imagine Steinberg will likely seek to either sell or relocate the team.

I'm not sure there's a real solution for them in Tampa. Not one where Tampa picks up all the costs.
Florida is a football state. Baseball is not viable long-term there no matter how much people try to force it.
I'm still baffled why they added two baseball teams in such close succession when that's clearly the case. One team I understand, but two?Florida is a football state. Baseball is not viable long-term there no matter how much people try to force it.

Move Tampa Bay to Las Vegas
Damn, I didn't know any of that. Sadly, I'm not surprised by any of the crap. The Rays exist because Jerry Reinsdorf was using some of his investor friends in Florida to strong-arm MLB and fellow owners because he was facing strong opposition from Chicago politicians about what is now Guaranteed Rate Field and threatening to move the team to Florida, despite already having the funding lined up. They conned St. Pete into building a stadium that laid stagnant for years until MLB expanded. After the White Sox made nice with Chicago, all the other mil-/billionaires decided to build the Trop.
If only he could have learned to get on base.
The 28 other teams each received roughly $24,000 in luxury tax money this year.
Mets sign catcher Wilson Ramos to two year deal
I’ve never liked Tony LaRussa, and his recent interview about Harold Baines encompasses all the reasons why. I actually feel very badly for Baines in all of this, as he never asked for any of the attention he’s getting.
I don’t disagree with you, that’s why if they are serious they need to get Bryce Harper. Otherwise it’s all just for show and I believe that’s the truth. That's a pretty solid upgrade at catcher for them, and it's a much better deal than burning the rotation to get Realmuto.
The Mets have very quietly put together a very solid offseason. I don't think they're in a position to compete for the division (yet), but they look like maybe an 85-win team on paper.
