MLB Offseason 2018-19: SIGN KIMBREL AND KEUCHEL YOU FUCKS

Batshit crazy amount of money and years but if you're going to pay one player, Trout's the guy.

Guess he isn't going to Philadelphia? Let's hope sometime over the next decade-plus the Angels figure out how to put a competitive team around him.

That's the most frustrating part about this; it sucks watching a once-in-a-lifetime player spend his career with a franchise mired in mediocrity.

At least the Angel you would think will have the money to eventually surround him with a good team. They are usually aren't shy when it comes to free agency.

That's not absurd. It's fantastic.

For his wallet. Otherwise, yes, completely absurd. :p

Just like Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken Jr. (although Cal did get a ring early in his career), but at least they did their resignings in increments.

The Angels have a much better farm system than they had even two years ago; I know, I'm talking about prospects, but it's still something. And given that their main weakness is pitching, they'll be a lot better equipped to spend in that area once Pujols and Upton are off the books.

It's not absurd for the best player in baseball to be paid as such. Hopefully the Angels actually manage to put a decent team around him though so he doesn't have to go his entire career without a ring. Though clearly if rings were a priority for Trout, he wouldn't have done this.

Regardless of the money, it's hard to pass up spending the next decade-plus living and working in SoCal.

Cardinals re-upping Paul Goldschmidt through 2024 for $130 million.

It’ll come in at “around $130MM,” per Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (via Twitter). That’s on top of Goldschmidt’s existing deal, it seems, which would indicate he’ll now be under contract through the 2024 season.

Many MLB teams becoming a bit more like the NFL in trying to retain their own talent versus dropping monster contracts on free-agents.

God fucking damn it. Almost every team in the NL Central has taken drastic steps to improve its roster, while the Cubs ... signed Daniel Descalso and said they don't have money.
