I was worried about Tex's wrist. It appears I again was correct.
Oh, really?
No reason to expect that Tex won't be an every day player.
None whatsoever.
Funny way of saying you were worried about his wrist.
Oh, and he's been carrying around 300 pounds forever, probably since he was 10

... no reason to think his weight will be a problem. Especially since he's had forever to rehab. It's not like he's rushing back or anything. I'm more "worried" about the mileage on that arm.
The thing is, though, that Sabathia's knee condition is degenerative. He missed needing microfracture surgery by the skin of his teeth (and that would have more than likely ended his career, or at best put him in the bullpen for the rest of his days). He barely has any cartilage left in the knee, which means it's going to get worse, not better, over time, as bone begins to grind against bone (same thing that happened to Rodriguez and his hips, and Jeter and his ... everything) and 300 pounds slamming onto that knee a hundred times every five days isn't exactly going to be good for the condition.
I expect Timby to misquote me at some time in the future to suit his "argument".
Yep, I sure am misquoting you, using your actual words and all.
I agree. Not in line with Cashman here...
This, I'll give you. If you're the Yankees (or about 20 other teams in the league), I honestly don't understand how you whiff on Moncada at that price. It's far cheaper than anyone was expecting and it's a singular cost.
However, this doesn't read as a Cashman move -- this really feels like Hal Steinbrenner's meddling. Some New York beat writers are already saying that Steinbrenner wouldn't go a cent above $27 million on the signing bonus despite Cashman's protests.
That said, the interesting thing here is now what the Red Sox do with Betts, who is basically blocked everywhere forever, now. If Cherington / Lucchino are smart, they'll flip him for an ace -- this could possibly even be enough to put together a package to spring Hamels out of Philadelphia. Of course, if Betts were actually the destined megastar people say, I'm not sure why Boston would spend $100+ million to block him at multiple places; since Betts' breakout year they've acquired Rusney, Hanley, Sandoval, Moncada and Allen Craig...
