MLB Chatter 2008

^ They ran out of pitchers?

But after two walks the game is over, the Rays win. So much for the Sox blowing over the Rays on the way to a back to back WS event. At least NECN fucker will be wrong yet again!

Fuck, I stayed up for that mess?

Well, Timlin's consistent, at least. He'd fit in pretty well in the Mets bullpen.

Lester should be able to get some outs on Monday. He's dominated at Fenway (and so far this postseason).

All I can say is Beckett has to be hurt, cause what is happening when he goes out there is nuts. And I do give the TB hitters credit, they put good wood on the ball. But it just seems like Beckett's stuff has been flat. Hopefully Lester can dominate at the Fens.

Beckett's oblique must still be messed up. That said, the game was still winnable until Timlin pooped all over the mound.

The pitching rotation for the next three games (all at Fenway) is Lester, Wakefield, and Matsuzaka. Wake's the only wild card there, as he hasn't pitched for a while. If Tito actually uses Byrd out of the 'pen, I like our chances for wrapping this up at home without Beckett starting again.

I was hoping the Phillies would win, but Moyer got roughed up early and the Phils never recovered. Oh well, the rest of the weekend went swimmingly as far as sports are concerned.

That was more like it! :bolian:

And the dirty Phillies can take their pitching antics and shove them. :shifty:

On to game 4!

Yeah, because we were entirely at fault there. It's not like anyone tried to pitch at Shane Victorino's head.

I hated to see that, not because I have great love for the Phils or hate for the Dodgers. It's just that I get a kick out of an athlete like Moyer who has been a good pitcher for such a long time. To be 46 (almost) and still be able to do a decent job without ever having a question of illegal substances.... that's an admirable thing.

The fact that I'm 47 has nothing to do with my admiration of the guy at all.

I would pay to see a major league player drop trou' and let one drop right on the mound in a stadium full of fans. That's must see TV right there.

Oh yeah?

That's called payback.

For Manny in Game 2, and Martin - 3 times in one game.

Dirty stinking Phillies.

Man, hopefully the Sox and Dodgers don't both make it to the WS, or there will be many pitches I think that will be very high and tight to Manny from many different Red Sox pitchers.

And that last pitch that hit Martin was a curveball that didn't break, so dont add that do the list of hit batters, even the ump knew that.

Personally, I'm getting fed up with the number of batters getting all huffy when a pitch comes anywhere near them. It's one thing if the pitch is near the head. But the rest? Come on, man up and play. The pitcher has as much right to the inside part of the plate as you do. You want to crowd it? Fine. There's probably a price to pay for it though. Don't want to get hit? Then get out of the frikkin way, and let the ump call a ball on a wasted pitch! Just ONCE I'd like to see these guys go up against Bob Gibson, who wasn't afraid of ANYone out there.

And in other news, the Rays have a 5-0 lead in the 5th inning .... and this is in Boston.

Yep, Lester had one bad inning, and the Sox offense is making Matt Garza look like '99 vintage pedro martinez....

Well it seems the season will rest on Tim Wakefield tomorrow. I like the guy, but excuse me if I am less then thrilled....

Holy crap what is going on with the Sox. Lester on the mound, the game's in Fenway. You'd think the Sox of an advantage. A few hours later, um, no not really. I'm glad the Rays are winning (Go Rays) but this is a surprise.

It's 8-1 Rays now. What a beatdown.

BOTH parties are guilty. There's brushing back and then there's throwing at.

Honestly, I felt that the Phillies were trying to brush them back, not actually hit them.

Shane said it the right way. He wasn't pissed off that they were trying to bean him, he knew that they would try and get him back for what the Phils pitchers did. But, as he said, hit him in the side, not the head.
