MLB Chatter 2008

The Phillies take game 1, 3-1. I just wish the Angels/BoSox game was on earlier than 10pm (EDT)

Cole Hamels was "El The Shit" today! Great win for the Phillies, despite Lidge doing his best Todd Jones impression. I do think that will be an interesting thing to watch. As dominant as Lidge has been this year, he last postseason trip was a disaster, and ever since that homerun he gave up to Pujols, he was never the same in Houston.

Hopefully Lester watched that Cole Hamels game and has decided he will not be shown up on national TV by another lefty.

Lidge has pushed things close a lot recently. It seems like he's only great when his back is against the wall.

I swear to you that I hope the Cubs win, just so the media will stop this nauseating overkill of "they haven't won a World Series in 100 years". That was the chief reason I pulled for Boston a few years ago. Nothing against either club, but I am ill over this incessant whine about the length of time since a team's last championship.

Just two more games Boston.... then another several.... :lol:

I'm still hoping for a Cubs - Red Sox World Series.

I would love a Cubs Red Sox Series...so much history there. I only wish it had come in '03 before the Sox won a couple, because that would have been a World Series for the ages.:cool:

According to Wikipedia he is a Yankee farmhand. Why do I keep coming back to the Mets every single year.

I don't know, we must be masochists. Being a Met fan isn't quite the same as getting a fist in your ass from some guy in a leather mask, but its close.

Or a series for the aged, as in those who were around for their previous last title.

And the Cubs begin their famous post season collapse. *sighs*

Tim Kurkjian was saying this morning on Mike & Mike that when Loney hit that grand slam to put the Dodgers up 4-2, a nervous hush fell over Wrigley. Okay, I forget the actual metaphor he used, but the point was still taken.

Jon Miller, who I love as a broadcaster, called the game on the radio.

They played the clip on Mike & Mike this morning. The phrase was 'eerie stillness'.

:lol::lol: Very True!

In the last two weeks, most Cubs fans and Chicago analysts were saying that a Cubs/Dodgers matchup in the NLDS was ideal, because the Cubs had beaten the Dodgers pretty handily.

I said then that the series during the regular season were mind-numingly close, and I couldn't possibly understand why fans would rather match the Cubs up against the Dodgers, as opposed to the Mets.

Guh, last night was terrible. Fuckin' Soriano. I'm glad I don't drink anymore, because I'd be in a ditch somewhere right about now.
