After further review, hmm. Part of the issue could be a struggle for some pitchers to grip the baseball in the wake of M.L.B.’s crackdown on the use of foreign substances. Last season, some pitchers, including Gerrit Cole of the Yankees, were accused of using products like Spider Tack to improve grip and increase spin rate, leading M.L.B. to conduct on-field inspections in an attempt to eliminate the substances from the game.
I'd almost choose Vancouver over Montreal at this point. There's a fan base that always travels when the Blue Jays are in Seattle or Minnesota. It's worth investigating and is more likely to flourish.
Ronald Acuña's recovery has progressed so well that the Braves have activated him for tonight's game instead of one more planned rehab start with Gwinnett, well ahead of the initial expectations for his return!
Does anyone know if AppleTV+ is subject to regular MLB blackout rules? For instance, tomorrow's Yankees/Royals game is on ATV+. I just subscribed to that service - it came 3 months free with my new iMac - so (since I live in Omaha, which would normally get me blacked out under MLB rules) would I still be blacked out? BC Place doesn't still have a baseball configuration, does it? I thought the renovation killed that possibility.
I would imagine they would have to build a baseball specific park, like any one else. Pretty sure it is under the same rules as every other carrier.
Wouldn't it be treated as a national broadcast? Because if the game is on Apple TV, it won't be on any other channels.
Like anyone else, he deserves his day in court. Though it likely won’t do him any favors as more details of what happened come out.
If the Browns were willing to give up the farm for Deshaun Watson, some baseball team will likely give Bauer a shot at some point if they think he can win games and put butts in the seats.
^ The boos will be legendary if Bauer ever turns up at a major league game again. He's lucky there's a universal DH so he doesn't have to come to BAT. Edit: Looks like MLB blackout rules don't apply to ATV+. I'm watching the Yanks/Royals game right now!
Bauer falls in the same category as Barry Bonds for me: incredible talent, but also an incredible douchebag.
If the allegations against Bauer are true, he went far beyond just being a douchebag. But he is one of those even without the allegations. That didn't take long. Next it'll be his shoulder again, etc, etc.
I really doubt the Bauer suspension stands just based on precedents set by Manfred himself on domestic violence issues.
