MLB 2021 season: Corn-Driven Humidity

Not even sure where the A’s would play in Las Vegas? They just opened a 10,000 seat Triple-A park in 2019.
So long as there aren't literal rivers of shit flowing through the clubhouse and dugouts, a 10,000 seat AAA park would be a step up for them.

Yeah, well, the Dbacks and Rays have nothing before 1998, so the Nats can get over it. :p
Except that the Diamondbacks and the Rays were brand-new expansion teams from the ground up. Relocated teams traditionally take their history, intellectual property, and records with them. But I'm sure you knew that.
srsly, even if the Nats own the rights to the Expos name (which I honestly didn't know), I don't see them raising a stink if Montréal gets another team. I think they'd be OK with giving the name back. It's not like we'd see "Montréal Baseball Team" on ticket stubs.
Sure, they'll give the name back... for a price.

Vegas works for the Raiders and Golden Knights; baseball can handle it as well.

And really, I think it'd be hilarious if Vegas got the A's. Oakland wants to tell them to fuck off? The A's can say "Right back at ya, bitch!" :guffaw:

Why do you have such a hard-on for billionaire owners? Why aren't they building these monstrosities with their own money if they are such great investments?

History reminder for those who may have forgotten: Peter Magowan arranged for private financing of the Giants' new stadium so they could get out of Candlestick. This was during the height of Bud Selig ordering owners to try to extract public financing for new parks (because he wanted ammunition against the City of Milwaukee to leverage public financing for Miller Park). Magowan said, "Fuck off," and got Pac Bell (or whatever the fuck it's named now) financed entirely privately.

Selig responded by blackballing Magowan and effectively removing him from all owner-related meetings and negotiations.

Oakland would be fine without the A's.

That's a secret most pro sports owners don't want getting out. You saw how quickly Montreal burned to the ground when the Expos left... oh, wait.

Time is coming for the Reds and Bengals to again want handouts from the city of Cincinnati, Hamilton County and the state of Ohio. Fuck them, we'll motor along just fine without them.

The Ben-Gals can go and I would only shed a slight tear, but loosing The Red-Legs would rip my heart out.

I am guilty of voting for the stadium referendum to build the "new ones" but I also voted to refurbish The Museum Center at Union Terminal, I guess it was a toss-up.

The Reds will never move, the first thing they look for in owners is "he won't move the team" which is why you end up with a team that goes into the season without a SS and a bullpen made up of batting practice machines.

The Bengals can die, it's only a shame they didn't move earlier and let FC Cincinnati have the place on the river instead of in the west end.

GABP will always have a special place in my heart - for SKYLINE CHILI  , easily the best food I've ever had at a ballpark.

Which was why it was so unfortunate to hear the Mets broadcasters making fun of it (the food, not the ballpark) last night. :sigh:

:wtf: ...why is it being served on a bed of spaghetti?

Because that's how Cincinnati chili (which, unlike Texas chili, is basically just a topping) is traditionally served. Either on spaghetti, or a hot dog.

Sherman...set the wayback machine for July 9, 2014...

Me: Hmm. Think I'll try one of these chili dogs.
(buys one from the counter, goes to seat to eat)

TWO MINUTES LATER
Me: Yeah, I'd like three more, please. :adore:

Oakland would be fine without the A's. I'm glad they've stuck to their guns and haven't let the billionaires bully them into wasting money that could go to more useful projects.
By "stuck to their guns" you of course refer to the endless dithering, contradictory guidance, foot-dragging, and randomly suing the A's ownership during the course of a decade or more of "negotiations."

I voted for it as well. I was young and stupid.

GABP will always have a special place in my heart...

If they tore them both down tomorrow, I wouldn’t shed a tear.

They can keep the beans but oh yeah..I'm all over that for dinner

I love the beans, but I eat mine without onions. Will likely make some for dinner tomorrow night!

If they tore them both down tomorrow, I wouldn’t shed a tear.

If you don't mind my asking...why?

I've never been to Paul Brown Stadium but GABP happens to be one of my favorite parks. If there's something wrong with it, I have no idea what it could possibly be.

You're not just nostalgic for Riverfront, are you? I mean, I can sorta understand why - I still miss Big Shea, after all - but still...Riverfront was a cookie-cutter (although it was much better when they took a chunk out of it while GABP was under construction). How could the new stadiums not be an improvement over that?

You're not just nostalgic for Riverfront, are you?

I watched The Big Blowup live. It was Must See T.V.

That was bittersweet for me. At one point I had been at 17 Opening Days in a row and was at the playoffs and the first two games of The Hunt for Red's October.
