I wasn't aware that anyone other than relief pitchers (and the bullpen coach) typically sat in the bullpen.
Well it wasn't gonna be Darvish. He was great last year, but throws way too many pitches to go 9.
He was a pretty cool guy to watch looking back on old archival games. He did wind up putting together a Cy Young season, though, which is remarkable for a sinkerballer who really didn't do much of anything else. Then again, this was the time when pitcher wins were still regarded as the ultimate metric of a pitcher's performance.
I honestly don't know, but that's what Rule 5.12(a)(15) has said since pretty much the dawn of time. The only exception to that rule is if the person identified as the DH is also working as the team's bullpen catcher for that day.
This is one of those times I wish I could drive or that it were safe for me to travel by airplane; I have severe doubts about his ability to stick as a two-way plater for longer than maybe three years, maaaaaaybe four, because God damn, he's exciting to watch and I'd love to see him play in-person, but those restrictions mean it's pretty damn difficult to travel.
At least I have Internet highlights.

I mean, uh, in news that should surprise no one, the Mets once again failed to provide Jacob deGrom with any run support? He gave up one run over eight innings, yet still ate a loss. Also, fun fact: deGrom has allowed 1 or 0 runs in 87 of his career starts. His career record is 70-51.
That should tell you everything to need to know that pitcher wins and losses are a complete horseshit statistic and essentially worthless to evaluate a pitcher's value.
