MLB 2017: The Yankees are dead, Yankees burn in hell

And Mike Rizzo gets to hire yet another manager he'll fire after two seasons.

One of the Astros said they were rattled by the raucous zoo that is Yankee Stadium, but they'd be okay once they got back to their house. And he was right.

In any case, more baseball!

In rather surprising news, the Cubs have fired pitching coach Chris Bosio and are eyeing Jim Hickey, who worked with Maddon in Tampa, to replace him.

Huh, that's weird. Aside from some issues with the bullpen, the reason why the Cubs failed wasn't because of the pitching, but the hitting, specifically the overreliance on home runs.

Well, the Cubs' pitchers were dead last in the majors in walk rate this year (when you remove intentional walks), and I think something like 25th or 26th in 2016. As a whole, the staff has some serious command issues.

Maddon did inherit Bosio, no? I figure he'd have to do a much better job to keep his job.

The whole team stunk at one point or another this year. I'll be surprised if they keep Mallee no matter who hired him.

Yeah, I did forget about the control issues of the regular season (Lester certainly gave me a rocky road on my fantasy team), but I didn't know about the walks stats. That's pretty damn bad.

I also think he might have just worn thin on everyone. He's known to be pretty intense and hard on his pitchers, and eventually that kind of demeanor stops being effective. He did have a shouting match in the dugout with Lester back in August after Lester got lit the fuck up (although a day or two later they tried to downplay it and say that Lester was just frustrated with the defense), and the front office was pissed when he made those "really makes you think winkwinknudgenudge" comments about Eric Thames earlier this summer.

...and the Yankees are finally heading down to hell!

Both the Dodgers and the Astros have incredible teams and I think we're in for an excellent National League World Series.

I didn't know about any of that. I agree that's pretty awful. What's this about Eric Thames?

I read that this is the first World Series matchup between two 100+ winning teams since 1970. That's extraordinary.

Yeah, I just read the same thing. Plus, the Astros are the first team to reach the World Series from both the American and National Leagues. Too bad they don't have the potential to win from both considering they lost the one time they reached from the National League.
