Mitchell and SG-Continuum!?

He couldn't risk fighting in WWII, if he killed even one soldier who shouldn't have been killed in the original timeline, he could end up causing as much damage as Baal.

Or, conversely, if he *didn't* kill a soldier who SHOULD have died...

Time travel is a bitch. :)

Only if you go backwards. ;)
Yeah, but not really, because everything you do or don't do is what you were always supposed to do and not do, otherwise I'm pretty sure the universe would implode.

I say this because I think "alternate universes" are a lame excuse for sloppy time travel.

O'Brien:I hate temporal mechanics...

Temporal mechanics is a piece of piss, infact that's why I enjoy time travel films and episodes because they always make sense to me. Trying to explain it to others is when I have trouble.

Voyager's "Relativity" made sense to you ? All that garbage about "reintegrating" people ? I don't think that made sense even to the writers.

When he first mentioned the photo in his locker, it was only ever of his grandfather, by the end of the film it was his grandfather and his "uncle" the other version of himself.

Much like O'Neils fish in his pond, it wasnt quite the same timeline, but "close enough"

Did they actually show the picture? I'll go back and watch it again and see...

That applies no matter WHAT he does... Just walking down the street he could inadvertently do something that screws things up, at least in theory...

That's why, in general, I beleive that either time travel is impossible or that "the proper history" is more resiliant than the "butterfly" people claim it is. I think the broad strokes generally remain, even if details are changed.

Agreed.

That's one reason I generally DETEST time travel stories. And, man, Trek is really pushing the envelope in terms of just how much more abuse I can take.

Oh god.

If there was an another Mitchel playing Uncle, that just means that the time line we saw in the beginning of the Movie was not the most original or the most unrenovated, Baals and Mitchels must have been fighting and collapsing and rebulding the time line line like a game of Go for a while thinking that they have won or lost until their doubles get passed the torch to play again. It was "A" Mitchel not "the same" Mitchel.

If it was the same Mitchel always reappearing then that means that he would have still appeared still again at the end of season 6 or seven when O'Niels lake got populated with fish and have to deal with that very different time line too, or more precisely the main team would have shown up in the SGC in that altered present instead of the north pole and figure out if they can get to the past through that lot insisting that their time line is the best.
