Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson

Has anyone else here read the Mistborn novels by Brandon Sanderson? I just finished the third one and I enjoyed them quite a lot. There were characters I loved, engrossing plots, plenty of action, and a very original and detailed system of magic based on different kinds of metals.

I haven't had a chance to read them yet...I have read his first novel Elantris which I found to be very good. He's writing the final Wheel of Time novel for those who aren't already aware that should be out sometime next year I think.

Actually, the first third of the final WoT novel will be out November 3rd of this year, under the hopelessly generic title The Gathering Storm, with the remaining two sections of the (projected) 800,000 word book following sometime later, probably in November of 2010 and 2011.

I've been meaning to check out Sanderson's work for a while, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I'd forgotten that there were plans to split it into a trilogy...remember being pissed off about that lol! Forgot how large the completed manuscript was. I'm curious to see how the saga ends since I've been following it and a huge fan since I was around fourteen.

I love the Mistborn trilogy. Brandon Sanderson really made an interesting world with great characters. I liked the way he took cliches of the genre and altered them slightly to keep me guessing about what was going to happen next. A wonderful series that more people should read. Highly recommended.

The thing that really left an imprint on me was the action. In most fantasy, the action is too vague for me to really get excited. An occasional block, strike, cut, dodge and next thing you know fifty people are dead. Or a vague mixing of elements and energy and lightning is made. Mistborn does not have that problem. Sanderson wrote some of the best fight scenes I have ever read. Technical enough to make it easy to follow what was happening but not too detailed to make it boring. It helps that the magic system was unique and easy to follow. Man, I feel like reading the series again.
