In 2381, Charivretha zh'Thane was amongst the 63 billion Federates killed by the Borg Collective during its attempted extermination of the Federation and allied worlds, gathered in Therin Park in Laibok along with hundreds of other Andorians awaiting their doom. (ST - Destiny novel: Lost Souls) ("Memory Beta")

Omigosh, I accidentally found this (above) today on Memory Beta. I finished Book 2 only yesterday and am just about to commence the final book...

Sob.

Where did they say?????????????

Dammit D.M. Thanks so much for the nod, but......... Nooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, congrats on the mention

And don't forget to duck and cover.

Therin Park was coined in 2004 by Heather Jarman, and named for my Star Trek alter ego, in the novel, "Andor: Paradigm", in "Worlds of Deep Space Nine, Book 1".

But eeek! About a year ago, TerriO, briefly made reference on this bbs, as to how I might feel about what she'd "done to Andor" in her "Starfleet Corps of Engineers" eBook, "Remembrance of Things Past, Book 1" (2007). Now, I'm so far behind in my ST reading, so I haven't given the now-defunct eBook range much of a look-in, but an excerpt just turned up now in a Google search!

Wow. I thought she was joking! I'm honoured, Terri0. I think. So, had the park just been rebuilt in time for David Mack to um, "salute" it again in "Destiny"? Welcome to Ground Zero. Don't feed the thizzards.

Ian, dear, look up about a half-meter. The point appears to have left contrails. ;)

At this point, there's no point in rebuilding Therin Park. It's a magnet for death and destruction.

The Andorians should salt the ground so nothing there will grow again, then lift off and nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

With burning, dessicated corpses, blackened beyond recognition. Some victims nothing more than shadows on the ground......

Really, planetary bombardment until its destruction is the only way left to rid this universe of the cancer that is Therin Park. Nobody should ever name a location that again, just to keep the curse from reappearing and taking more lives. And since it was cursed by a very determined witch, it'll continue.

I smiled when I saw the reference too. I'm still waiting to see "Elemental Planet"; the galaxy's new pleasure planet now that Risa is gone. ;)

Therin's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, blue icing flowing down...
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

OOOH NOOOOOOOO

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! *trail off into the distance*

Gosh, I'm glad we are friends. ;)

Darlin', I'd just be glad you're on the other side of the planet if I were you.

Let this be a lesson, never, ever, ever let yourself get a swelled head over a silly little thing like a character/place name again, 'kay? :vulcan:

Because the more it gets talked about, the more it tempts people to nuke the holy hell out of it to make it stop being talked about.

At last, my job here is done. :techman:
