Misfits US Remake

I am going to take a wild guess however, that they will completely chop its balls off and turn it into an insipid US network drama.
Does it have balls? Good show? I've been thinking about downloading it and getting in to it, is it worth it?

I like things that are the opposite of insipid US network dramas.

It is one of the funniest shows on TV in my opinion, and also one of the most accurate representations of wayward British youngsters you are likely to find. It's incredibly crude without feeling like they are doing it just to shock you, although it might feel that way to viewers who haven't been around people like the characters in real life.

As others have noted, only a subscribed channel like HBO could get away with it, and even then it would be pushing the boundaries of anything I have seen on those channels.

It's also got some pretty nifty special effects.

There's also Law & Order: UK which has generally just almost directly reproduced plots from the original L&O and transported it into the UK.

But as Bob pointed out I think the chances of success for an American show remade in Britain is about the same as a British show remade in America. Every so often you have a hit, but most often you'll see it not last long.

I don't know, I'd say it's probably tamer than the second and third seasons of True Blood. In Season 2 of True Blood they had full on orgy scenes and showed almost everything.

We already had a US Misfits, it was called "Heroes"...which means the UK are better with the concept than Americans as theirs has lasted longer.

Erm I think you'll find that's not really true. Heroes lasted 4 seasons and 78 episodes, and was about ordinary people becoming "Heroes". Misfits has had 3 series and will have 21 episodes by the end of series 3, and is about a group of petty teenage criminals who gain super powers and pretty much just fuck about.

Yeah, other than the whole people mysteriously getting superpowers thing, I don't think you can really compare the two. Heroes was (IMO at least) more of a live action superhero comic book, where Misfits is more of a drama about people who gain superpowers (again IMO).

Yeah, Heroes your standard American Super Hero comicbook stuff. Misfits a very British drama that contains super powers.

The American Misfits will probably sand off the rough edges, clean up the language and intensify the interpersonal and relationship drama, as well as having them battle other storm freaks.

It will turn out to be a lamer version of Smallville
