No, it's not about Aretha. This week's contest is devoted to the people you respect, admire, trust and/or look up to as great examples --people, living or dead, who have served their community, town or nation, helped their fellow citizens, made sacrifices for others, and/or contributed greatly to services/organizations that benefit the lives of others. Since we aren't in Gen Media, let's stay away from people in the entertainment industry. Also, we want to focus on INDIVDUALS, not groups. So, rather than saying you respect the military, focus on one person in the military who has your respect. Examples: Lawmakers, leaders, public servants, educators, medical professionals, charity workers, civil rights leaders, community organizers, religious leaders, journalists exposing corruption or upheaval at great personal risk, etc. It doesn't have to be someone famous. It could be Mother Teresa or it could be your cousin Margie who works at the homeless shelter. It could be Abraham Lincoln, or your uncle who was a hero in WW2.

Standard av rules apply: 200 x 200 pixels max, 1 MB max. You may enter up to two avatars.
The poll will go up on Sunday the 11th, or thereabouts.

Here's mine:
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
The first Jewish woman and second woman to serve on the Court, a life-long advocate for equality.

Chelsea Manning, whistleblower, leaking evidence of war crimes by members of the U.S. military, serving seven years imprisoned under the espionage act, and close to an uninterrupted year for contempt of court for refusing to testify against Julian Assange.

My personal hero is the nice road sweep whom I meet every morning.
No matter how nasty the weather is and how mean the chewing gum sticks to the pavement, he's always friendly, cheerful and brightens the day of everyone who meets him. Right now he also has to collect lots of used face masks some morons simply toss away. So he has a much higher infection risk as other people. And still he's there, every morning at 5. Never ill, never in a bad mood. Awesome guy =)

Didn't have time tonight, so I will try to get it done tomorrow.
