Mirror, Mirror question/gripe

Vandervecken

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
In Mirror, Mirror, mirror Spock says this to real Kirk in the transporter room while holding a phaser on him:

SPOCK: I shall not waste time with you. You're too inflexible, too disciplined once you've made up your mind. But Doctor McCoy has a plenitude of human weaknesses, sentimental, soft. You may not tell me what I want to know, but he will.

But the only McCoy whom Spock has known is MIRROR McCoy, who presumably is as much a monster as any of them. Would mirror McCoy be sentimental and soft? Real McCoy (heh) says:

MCCOY: And my Sickbay is a chamber of horrors [speaking of mirror McCoy's sickbay].

Doesn't sound to me like the work environment a sentimental softie would have.

Thoughts?

It is a weird glitch, but I just take it to mean that either Mirror-McCoy is not too far off from our McCoy ("You're a man of integrity in both universes, Mr. Spock.") or he's just "sentimental and soft" by the standards of the Mirror Universe.

Bingo. I assumed mirror McCoy probably puts on the act that he's tough and badass, just like everyone else in the MU, when in fact he's not a tough badass at all. Mirror Spock knows this and knows how to turn it to his advantage.

Works for me. When you consider how quick Mirror Spock was to mind-meld with McCoy, you could make a decent case that Mirror Spock had mind-melded with his McCoy before, and therefore knew his deepest, darkest secrets.

Yeah either Mirror Spock had sussed out our McCoy while on their Enterprise or Mirror McCoy was similar to our McCoy! The only differences being he felt sad when he had to torture someone who wouldn't play ball with da Captain! :vulcan: But was as mean and nasty any other time or he just hid his softness from the others in the crew and maybe when Spock had mind melded with him before he reached in and found all that plenitude of weakness!

Assuming physiology is the same in the Mirror Universe, Vulcans have mental abilities that Humans do not. However, Capt. Kirk is very strong willed an may be able to resist Spock's attempts, but typical human McCoy would not in either universe.

From what little we saw of Mirror McCoy in the Enterprise brig, he was pretty spunky if I remember correctly.

Oh I agree but wasn't that the only on screen exposure we had of the mirror mccoy, kirk, scotty, and uhura.
Yep. Not a whole lot to go on, is it? About my only disappointment with "Mirror, Mirror" is that they don't show more of the Mirror Universe crew in our universe. Spock obviously caught on that something was rotten fairly quickly, but what did they do that gave them away? Did Mirror-Kirk order a phaser barrage on the Halkan city? Or did he try to pretend to be Prime-Kirk and screw up somehow? Who knows?

Kirk probably gave the game away at the very beginning by shouting at Spock and the transporter crew! Spock then probably tried to calm his commanding officer to no avail before the Vulcan realized something more than transporter ague was amiss!

Like asking for their agonizers as soon as they didn't jump, right?

My agonizer, Captain? What is an agonizer?
Don't disobey me, Spock give me your agonizer now!!!
Are you feeling unwell, Sir?
What have you done to my ship you pointed eared freak?
Security, please convey the Captain to sick bay!
Don't you dare lay a hand on your Captain, you traitors! Aaarg!
Captain's Log! I am assuming command of The Enterprise and it's about time! :vulcan:
