Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir

Hi everyone, turns out I still exist.

A couple of months ago I stumbled onto this show by accident, then found it on Netflix. (Season 4 is on Disney+ along with two telemovies.) This may be my new favorite show. It's child-compatible but it transcends age.....I have no qualms about saying I love it as a childless 38-year-old. It's 22 minutes of pure fun, and will always leave you with a smile. Just the right balance of humor, plot, character, and action. And despite having the perfect excuse to be completely episodic with weekly resets, it prefers to allow the characters and situation to evolve organically instead.

Miraculous fandom is interesting; it's the only fandom I've seen other than Trekkies that sometimes seem to hate their own show as much as they love it. The two fandoms have a lot in common actually.

I'm currently on my second marathon, trying to get the episode order right this time. The order on Netflix is wrong....and on pretty much every network that runs it, as far as I can tell. Actually, the "correct" order is a bit of a mystery. I've decided this is more of a feature than a bug; trying to find clues as to what order makes the most sense is part of the fun.

Anyone else onboard with this one? Favorite episodes?

My daughters and I both enjoy this quite well. No favorite episodes, and I love the just overall fun feel of the superheroes, and a lot of the problem solving. The worldbuilding can be incredibly interesting, if thick at times. But, overall, it's a fun show and I think anyone can enjoy it.

I enjoy analyzing the Love Square dynamics. Although, these days, it's more like a Love Hexagon.

Marinette spends the entire show trying to figure out how to confess her feelings to Adrien; when we know from Weredad that even if she did, he wouldn't be able to return them. That was Cat Noir, but one can assume Adrien's response would be similar. And we know from Glaciator (among others) that Ladybug can't return Cat Noir's affections. And yet, we know from Oblivio and Cat Blanc that the two of them are an obvious match. In other words, it's fully clear by this point that the Love Square can't be resolved without an identity reveal. The two will have to go together, eventually. I suspect that's coming before the end of the show.....season 4 is starting to let a lot of people in on the secret. It's building towards something.

I also hope in future seasons we can get more progression towards the future team hinted at in Timetagger. I get the feeling that was setting something up; this show doesn't really forget about stuff like that.

This show drips dramatic irony out of every pore, and I'm still discovering new layers.
