Miracle Workers: Remembering S.C.E. (article)

Just read part 2, and it really made me want to go back to the series.

Thanks for all the kind words. :)

Did Part 3 get postponed?

Not to my knowledge. I'm not involved with the technical side of the site, so I can't promise it, but my guess would be that it will be online within in the next 24 hours or so.

No worries, I just assumed Friday would be the day for 'Part 3' in a 3-part, week-long roll out.
It's also the part I was most looking forward to reading.

Rejoice, for it is online now. Happy Christmas.

In the final part, David, Keith, Dayton, and Kevin discuss why the series ended, what their favourite memories from working on it were, and the chances of S.C.E. making a return.

And if you're not interested in that, there are three thumbnails of James Doohan in the sidebar. Something for everyone.

If anyone from Pocket is reading this, can we get Defcon some royalties? ;)

*thumbs up*

Yay!

As far as it goes, I've only ever read SCE in book form, rather than e-book. Honestly I can't bring myself to shell out how much they wanted for the e-books... I'd rather own a book I can hold in my hands.

Actually, I meant that I wanted to get back to reading the series. I only made it as far as Oaths so far, but I do own all of the collections except What's Past.

Man, reading that article, it seems like there isn't much of a chance of seeing the series back anytime soon.

Such a shame.

I agree, but there's always hope. Maybe once Jaime gets settled and things are moving along, Keith can bring it up and she'll say, "Hey, I liked that series, sure!" With the prevalence of eBook readers out there now: Kindle, Nook, Sony Reader, Kobo, Aluratek, the Chinese one I can never remember the name of, Pandigital's Novel, Copia's Ocean and Tidal, and about ten others, I think that TPTB could be persuaded, and since the reprints would be done in Trade by the Gallery imprint, it might become their flagship line and be a big thing.

There's always hope, right?

^Sounds good to me. And even the series doesn't come back, there really isn't any reason we couldn't still see the characters as occaisional guest characters. They've already been in one book since the end of the series (A Singular Destiny) and it even established what several of the characters are up post Destiny.

Given how the popularity of eBooks has grown since the SCE/CoE series was dropped, I do think if it came back in eBook only that it would be a lot more popular as long as S&S do not use Agency 5 pricing on it. if they do it may as well stay dead.

Is there any other publishing house that sells 15k word eBooks though? I don't think there is which means that S&S/Pocket/Gallery on their own in a little niche within a niche, they could do whatever the hell they wanted and most people would still buy them. And once people are into the new ones they may well go back and get the older ones. I lost the eBook PDFs I had when my computer went down several years back but when I get a new eBook reader i'll buy them again.

Hopefully they do come back. I was one of those that waited for the print verison when they were first printed as ebooks. I'm only missing one volume, which is Book 3 of course.
I'm still in the middle of What's Past and going to miss this series for awhile through. Hopefully someone will pop up again.
