I never got around to watching this until last night. It was nice to see it in HD. If I wasn't so senile, I'd remember which channel it was on...UHD, HDNet, Discovery HD? Sorry, I can't find it in those channels' listings. The show was titled Focus, and I guess they use it to show all sorts of content.
Anyway, it was fascinating to see Shatner and Nimoy, who've known and worked with each other for 35 years (wasn't this made back in around 2001?), telling each other things that they never knew about each other. We really see the difference in their personalities. Nimoy was much more serious about his craft, remembers a lot of details, but has now attained a "serenity" in his life. Shatner really only thought of acting as a job, and thus doesn't place as much importance on his work or remember as many details. He hasn't achieved peace in his life, and has a deep fear of death. This is why he's still driven to keep working so hard, while Nimoy is more or less able to relax and enjoy the rest of his life.
We do see Shatner trying to reveal deep fears and desires, and it's almost painful. He's also still conflicted about ST and its impact. At the very end, he mumbles something about "It was a good thing, wasn't it?" and trails off with a doubtul expression on his face. Nimoy just wraps his arm around Shatner's shoulder and says "You're my best friend." This remark totally flabbergasts Shatner, and he doesn't know how to respond.
Try to catch it if it comes on again.
