I have a slight preference for the Serenity but overall I value both.

Also, slightly off-topic, do you like the Falcon as such, or prefer it in a specific configuration (like square deflector dish, or escape pod at the bow)?

Basicly every configuration has its charms, but the OT is the best.

or escape pod at the bow
One of the few configurations that make the Falcon look almost OK.

Now, I realize that my personal preferences are based purely on aesthetics and practicality, as the Firefly feels far more cozy and homey than the Falcon and the Falcon is an ugly piece of junk.

However, if we are talking practical matters of speed and weapons then the Falcon edges it out, only by those features alone.

I ultimately voted for the Falcon, but I love both ships. And they're from totally different universes — I don't think anything has an FTL drive in Firefly, not even the big Alliance ships — so there's an apples & oranges element to this comparison.

Definitely. The two are not really comparable in terms of tech and ability.

But fans got to have their competitions.

The thing is, the Falcon can be made to look pretty and be comfortable. Lando had it that way, but Han Solo likes his ship with easy access to machinery, and more cargo storage. Also the junky look makes people underestimate the ship in just the ways he needs them to. The only thing Lando was really missing was the upgraded guns than Han later has. Also maybe the upgraded shield generator.

But if you want fast....yeah that Falcon's got that.

Reliable....well. Depends on the computers moods.

Falcon.. it was my first love (naturally since it came way before Serenity). I love that piece of junk.

However if given the actual choice i'd choose Serenity.. more spacious which would be better for long hauls.

As Mal said: "Love.. makes her a home!"

Obviously I love the Falcon but I'd rather live in Serenity. She seems a lot more comfortable.

One advantage Serenity has it shuttles that allows you to leave and come back to places. Have we ever saw the living quarters on the Falcon? I mean they don't look so great on Serenity unless you do live in one of those shuttles and you really don't want to go into Jayne's bunk. Not knowing some of the umm stuff he does in their we suspect from his one joke line and like 500 joke lines here back in the early days of Trekbbs!

Have we ever seen the actual living quarters on the Falcon?

That's what I asked. I think we briefly might have seen Luke laying on a bed after he got a new hand but that is about it. I don't even think we have ever seen the engine room either or the engine.

We did see Qira getting a cape out of Lando's closet in his bedroom. I think that was in the movie, or was it just the novelization?

I'm thinking Han's version of the bedroom probably looked pretty different.
Ah, I just remembered that they did Donald Glover did a tour of the Falcon, including Lando's bedroom.

I guess the big conclusion is that the Falcon got more than a bit rundown after she changed owners.

That's been the theory I've read for a while, including in the Young Jedi series and the Incredible Cross Sections.

Rugged, half broken almost all of the time, captained by rogue outlaw captains........
Sure, there's nothing to compare.
Except they're both from loved Scifi entities, who both have a fanbase that overlaps. So it's a fun stupid little thing to think about and talk about in shitty times.

You know, fun? Remember that? So let's not be to negative about people having a little fun man, and come along for the ride. Either in the Falcon or Serenity ;)

You do realize you picked my one post commenting on another posters comment about not being comparable, right?

I already stated my preference.
